“Excellent.In the hub of things!”
Very helpful, friendly staff.Cheery greeting from the friendly doorman(who must have been frozen!).We were in close proximity to 'The Prado',cafes, restaurants and the sight seeing tour bus.Everyone walks in Madrid, even more so because the buses had stopped going into the very centre for the weekend as people wanted to look at the Christmas lights! We were recommended a great restaurant very near the hotel called El Rincon Esteban;a great restaurant for food and friendliness.Esteban even knows the Spanish Royal family!!!!We would go back to Madrid!
“Great location to museums and restaurants.”
Layout of the room was lovely. Staff was very helpful. Room was very hot, only way to cool it was to open door to balcony. This made room noisy.
“Can't wait to go back”
Everything was excellent
“Very Good But....”
Villa Real is a very good hotel in a primo location in Madrid. The rooms are comfortable, and the service is very good. My only two qualms are that they only provide 1 hour of wifi service per day for free (and it is one consecutive hour) and they charge four times the amount for breakfast, if you choose to eat there than if you go to one of the fine places (including a Starbucks) that are very nearby. The wifi situation is really annoying for a hotel of this quality and cost.
“perfect place”
Just up the street from The Prado, around corner from Thyssen-Bournemitza, outdoor seating for drinks in front on the plaza Cortes. Convenient computer in the lobby for use of guests, friendly, helpful reception staff. Beautiful breakfast buffet(extra). Felt at home, lovely area, can see the beautiful Neptune Fountain from room. Ask for a front room.
“Convenient location in Madrid for a reasonable price”
I stayed at villa real for 5 nights during mid-july. The staff was helpful and corteous at all times. My room and bathroom were very clean at arrival and kept that way during my stay. I was greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. The hotel is very well located, right in the middle of action, but just in front of a quiet square. That being said, I had no complaints about noise or anything of the sort. Overall, a very good value for the money.
“A++++ Highly Recommended!”
This hotel exceeded our expectations - it was located within a 5-7 minute walk to the Prado museum and very close to a lot of shops and restaurants including Starbucks, Vips, etc. It was also within walking distance to a McDonald's restaurant which is a must when traveling with small kids! It is 2 short blocks away from the bus stops including the stop for Hop On/Hop Off tour buses. In addition to a great location, it was very clean and our sheets were crisp and in pristine condition every day! The bathroom was also spotless and very shiny! Hardwood floors in the room add to the clean feeling (no icky carpet). Hotel staff all spoke fluent english and very helpful and free computer use just off the lobby. A++++++++++!!
“Excellent, excellent, excellent!”
The staff was very friendly (not always the case in Spain) and helpful. The food, the service, the location - great. Stayed at another 5 star hotel close by 2 weeks before and the difference was big between the two. Highly recommend it.
“Amazing hotel in a perfect location”
Have to admit I was a bit nervous when I read some of the older reviews indicating noise and other needed improvements to the Villa Real. I'm here to tell you those people need to get a life. This was one of the most enjoyable stays I've ever had worldwide, and I travel a LOT on both personal and company money. We had a standard room overlooking Plaza de Cortes and were thrilled with the comfort and location of the facilities. We went in the best time of the year - May, 2011 - and while the East 47 bar was always packed in the evenings we never heard a peep from our neighboring rooms. We kept the window open most of the time to enjoy the air and the peaceful sounds of the city drift in. With it closed, you heard NOTHING outside. I was surprised by how quiet a town Madrid is given its size. Very little horn honking, for example. Some kids liked to skate and dogs liked to play in the plaza below but we found these peaceful sounds, not an irritation at all. Madrid is not nearly as expensive as I expected given prior reviews. Spent less than 200 euros/day on food *and* shopping *and* entrance fees and more. Granted, we didn't use cabs as the entire city was within walking distance for us - and we hit it all including Debod, the Palace, and Bodin. If that seems like a lot of $$ to you, we ate and drank at AMAZING places with reckless abandon. The staff at Villa Real and East 47 were VERY accommodating and pleasant. We're already planning our next visit.
“avoid Room 106”
hotel location is really good, very close to Plaza Santa Ana and many restaurants. Prado is very close, also is Arte Reina Sofia. But do your best to avoid Room 106, we were put there and it is right above the sliding door of the entrance on first floor (or so called ground floor). It took me 2 nights to figure out it was the sliding door making the noise all night long, like some one is opening and closing a drawer all the time, and we were leaving for Sevilla. if the front desk give you room 106 when you check in, ask for higher floor. and 106 is also facing the elevator (thanks for the double door they put in, otherwise elevator noise will be another problem) they give you voucher for free champagne at the bar, go redeem it.
