“Good hotel-near London City Airport, quite far from Central London”
This hotel is right near London City Apt (not on its DLR line though-the closest DLR station is Prince Regent) but I didn't stay here because of that. I stayed here because I got a good price and I was happy to sit on the DLR/Tube to get into Central London because I am very familiar with it. But I would think if you are a tourist who is new to London (even if you arrive at City Apt) then the location of this hotel is not good at all. It's at least 40 mins into Central London depending on wait times/interchanges. The plus side to the location would be if you are attending the 2012 Olympics. Some of the DLR trains go directly out to Stratford. Bear in mind also that because this hotel is almost out in the middle of nowhere, you may very well eat at the restaurant - which has a really good full menu (better than most hotels) and reasonable prices. There is also a pub next door to the hotel - and that's the only other option. When I checked in, I was told if I booked the breakfast on the spot there and then, I would get a slight discount on the price. But I chose not to have the breakfast, so I can't comment. The hotel itself is very nice and modern (and I hate to comment on this but the shower had some mould - which was very surprising actually) and I would be happy to stay here again.
“ok if you are looking for a hotel in the area”
Would rather recommended closer to the city. However if you need to be in the area a good place to stay at cheap rates. Clean hotel with ample room size.
“Would stay again!”
Close to the light rail, at Tower Bridge in 15 mins. so no problem with the location. The amount of space in the room (3 of us staying) and the kitchenette made it very comfortable and convenient! Extremely comfortable and helpful staff.
“Too far away”
An example of what happens when you book using Expedia's blind rates; the hotel was nice but the travel time was awful and the location seriously infringed on what we felt like we could do, because we always had to make at least two transfers back to the hotel, and there was absolutely nothing nearby. As a result we ate a lot of terrible bar food and could never stay out late. Definitely wouldn't recommend it for a visit to the city of London; the tube time is just not worth it. We didn't even feel like we were staying in London.
“clean, conformable, good value, poor location”
This hotel is fine if you are on business and going to the excel center, but very disappointing as a London tourist. It is a given that the journey to central london will be long from the docklands, but the hotel has no on site vending, ice, or convenience store. The restaurant is overpriced and mediocre at best. What makes it worse is that there is no where to obtain these ammenities outside of a 20 minute walk. If you are just looking for a clean place to sleep and a spacious room, it should do you just fine.
“Too far away”
Was a nice hotel and clean room but was too far away from London city.
“On the far east side but a good place to stay”
Although somewhat remote from central london, the DLR is fast and convenient with easy connections. there isn't much immediately in the vicinity of the hotel but if you get a good price, jump on it.
“Hotel is fine, but only here to be close to LCY airport”
The hotel is fine, however it is a disappointment that a place so close to LCY airport has no shuttle. The only reason to stay here is if you have somewhere you need to be in the immediate area. The walk to the DLR tube is not far but desolate. The food at the restaurant was good, but there is also a nearby pub and the Premier Inn hotel across the parking lot serves food and has a bar too. It met my needs to be close to LCY but the room and service that are good can't make up for the location and lack of shuttle.
“Not impressed”
The staff is distant and inflexible. The public transportation is limited to DLR service, no red bus near the hotel. + Near Canary Wharf + Accessible by private car Make sure no major event or tunnel/street work is being conducted.
“Good Docklands hotel”
Great location if you need to be in the docklands or around London City Airport. I walked from London City to the hotel late at night and it took 15 mins with heavy bags. Ramada docklands connects to areas like Bond St by a DLR station and 2 tube changes taking around 45 mins. Late at night the area surrounding the bay can feel dangerous with groups of tough looking teenage boys hanging around, but there are guards monitoring the area so it is ok. The rooms are very large for London. The only setback is the beds! They are springy and fairly uncomfortable.
