“DO NOT MAKE LOCAL CALLS FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!”
The overall location of this hotel was spot on. Center of most everything. The London Eye and Big Ben were views outside our windows as well as the River Thames. Restaurants were nearby, the tube within walking distance, bus stop outside the front door, but DO NOT make local calls from your room. We paid an extra $146 for 6 local calls!! That is absolutely outrageous!! The charge appeared on our credit card statement after we were home a month!! The rate of exchange was astronomical!! 50 cents to the pound, so watch your spending. More about the hotel, the concierge desk was very helpful as far as directions and such. The pool was nice. Otherwise, the hotel was OLD as I expected, but it still reflected OLD. Not much was updated. The maid service was hit and miss. Sometimes we had things and sometimes not, like towels, coffee and glasses. Otherwise, our room was large, but the furniture was uncomfortable and the bed was hard as rock. If you go in the summer, the air conditioning barely cooled the room. Otherwise, London was very nice as far as the sights and the history of it all. DO NOT rent a car unless you are adventurous and drive like a maniac. Public transportation was readily available and DO arrange for transportation from the airport to your hotel if you're staying downtown London. If we were to return to London, we would chose another hotel.
“Wonderful Hotel”
The staff was very professional, friendly and attentive. The location was terrific for many of the major sightseeing locations. We upgraded tothe river view and had a gorgeous view of Big Ben.
“Great location for first time tourist”
Excellent hotel but a little pricey (especially for a room without a good view). The room was far from an elevator but as London is a walking city, what's another half mile to the room! Room was very quit, never heard a soul. Concierge was very helpful. Use of a hotel PC for timed internet use cost 7 pounds. Also annoying for a pricey hotel.
“Nice Hotel at Great Location”
We stayed at Mariott county hotel for 2 nights and we were given a very spacious room with BigBen, river and London Eye views . We also had access to teh executive lounge and teh service was very good. The swiming pool , GYM and health club are outstanding . Would recommend this hotel . The location of teh hotel is very convenient .
“Interesting hotel in a great location.”
This interesting hotel is located in the building that used to house the city government. The location is perfect, next to the Eye and just across the river from Big Ben and Parliament. Staff was very friendly and the gym was fantastic. I would absolutely stay here again.
“American-style Hotel in London”
Great location if you're planning on making your visit to London a "walking tour". Easy access via mulitple bridges to Parliament Square, the British Museum, the London Eye, etc. Excellent Consierge assistance for information regarding London sites. Highly recommend paying extra for the "Big Ben" view! Great access to "American style" expectations of a hotel --- plenty of towels in the Bathroom, bathrobes, blankets, hair dryer, Executive Suite with morning breakfast buffet, etc. Room was spotlessly clean everyday. Only issue was that our Room reservation was cancelled due to our overnight arrival from the US. Manager resolved this within an hour allowing us complementary access to the Executive Suite to have Breakfast and wait for our Room availability. I highly recommend this hotel for its service and location. Happy visiting!
“Great Hotel!”
Great staff! Great location! Enjoyed our stay. Plan on going back.
“london 2010”
The hotel was very nice, if a bit old but well kept. Our first room was VERY far from the elevator, ice, etc and had only obne window that you had to stand on a chair to get on the windowsill to see out! We changed rooms and moved a bit closer down the hall,( 504 to 512) had 2 window (a bit lower, but 1 was covered by a gargoyle) and was much nicer. The hotel was very nice about making the change. The restaurant was pricey, and the food so-so, but convenient to our iteneraries. It was a nice hotel all in all, and i would recommend it for its location most of all.
“Worth the money!”
The location is the best aspect of the Marriott County Hall (right next to London Eye and across from Big Ben), but closely following was the service of every single staff member (I loved Paddy the fitness trainer--great class!), the comfort of the hotel, the food--my boys even loved the cool crayons in the hotel restaurant. Yes, this is pricey, but if you can swing it, this is worth the money!
“Ideal for short visit.”
We enjoyed our stay in the West Minster area very much. Walked the south bank 'til late night, it was busy and it felt safe (unlike the streets of major cities of USA). Great place to stay. This hotel appears very formal and almost regal. I dont know what other hotels in London are like. eg Nobody greets the kids... some of the restaurants and lobby/cocktail/bar areas appeared to be very aristocratic almost pompus and I would not feel comfortable entering with children... but our room easily accommodated the four of us and primarily, we were there for the location.
