“Excellent accomodations!”

“Would stay here again”

We didn't spend much time in the hotel but it was a great place to sleep and the concierge desk was a big help with information when we needed it.

“Always good service”

This is not the first time I've stayed here but it has been about a year since I was last there and I had forgotten how outstanding the hotel and the service was. The Front Desk staff were amazing and very accommodating and although I arrived at 7am in the morning the staff were great and arranged access to my room straight away. After an overnight flight from Washington DC it was definitely appreciated. After that the service just remained at the highest standard and all the staff were very pleasant and cheerful. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Sleep like a baby!”

Was amazed how quite the room was being located in such a busy city and an extremely comfortable bed. Very pleased with the comfort of the room. The hotel website says complimentary coffee but they fail to mention it is only complimentary between 4:30am-6:30am. That was my only complaint that they should have complimentary coffee in the room. They did have a coffee bar where you could purchase a danish and coffee in the hotel which was nice since the restaurant was expensive.

Area recommendations

Almost to much to mention, but to name a few in walking distance is Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street where you can shop and eat. There is also a HardRock Cafe in walking distance get there early very busy restaurant. We also visited by rail Windsor Castle, recommend to get out of the city and see the country side a little. Also by tour bus or cab, Tower of London bridge, London Tower, St Paul's Cathedral, West Minister Abbey, House of Commons, Piccadilly Circus,China Town, West End Theaters also went to Harrods. Felt very safe in the city walking at night for there is a cab everywhere, when you get tired of walking just lift your hand and there is a cab.

When to go

August was a great time for the weather ranged from 55 - 70 degrees.

Getting there

British Airways was great, they fed us two meals with wine included on a 9 hour flight for no extra charge we each had individual screen tvs to watch. We booked a car and driver through expedia to get us to and from the airport to hotel. Worked out great.

Getting around

A great way for touring is on a hop on hop off tour bus. You can book one from 9am-9pm and hop on and off all day. Taxis are great also.

What to pack

Make sure you have the correct electrical plugs to charge you phone and cameras. Take an umbrella for light rain in August.

Must see

It's worth the wait in line to see 'The Crown Jewels" in London Tower.

Dining

Food is not the greatest there. Hard Rock Cafe is good but go early because there can be a 2 hour wait.

Family-friendly activities

We did a brass rubbing at St Martin in the Crypt at Tarfalga square, Also you can ride bikes in the parks. Check out on renting bikes before you go because you need to register for a card to rent them at the park.

Events and shows

If you like musicals, a must see is Les Miserables it's been running for 25 years at Queens Theater.

“Very good Hyde Park hotel”

This is a very well maintained hotel in a lovely area. Good restaurants nearby, Hyde Park across the street, convenient transportation from Marble Arch, which is a very easy walk. Friendly staff. You won't write home about this hotel, but you will come back.

Getting around

Don't be misled by the rather cliched double-decker bus tours. They are a wonderful way to get around the city, see the sights, figure out what you want to do and see. That's how they became a cliche: by being really good.

“Five-star service???? Not really.”

I simply have stayed in other 4 and 5 star hotels that provided much higher level of service.

Area recommendations

Mayfair is good. Nice parks, nice shopping, clean.
