“Location isn't the best”

This hotel is usually pretty packed, so it's impossible to change something that very day. We reserved smoking by mistake and hotel wasn't able to switch. Location didn't impress me, tube station is 10 min away on foot, and once you're there everything is a 20-30 min ride. The main thing, this hotel is in the north east of London. The airport taxi ride was 110 pounds (black cab) from Heathrow and 65 pounds on the way back. Breakfast is ok, not very tasty though. variety just isn't there. You can get cereal and fruit earlier than 6:30, but I thought one kind of eggs, sausage and toast, cereal, milk and yogurt with the expresso machine is hardly breakfast. Internet access is paid by half hour only at the front desk, is timed as they give you the code, so don't spend too long in the elevator or it will all run out. They have no available adaptors, so buy one at the mall or they'll charge you 7 pounds for the one available for purchase in the vending machine. If you want to print out an e-mail you have to sent it to the hotel's e-mail address. Business center access is timed and paid just like your wi-Fi in the room. No grocery stores nearby, metro mall has McD's and Burger King. Hair dryer sometimes doesn't work and hotel doesn't have spares. In general, they try, but I think they are stretched too thin, too many people and not enough staff. Room had coffee pot, no safe to store valuables. No shampoo, one dispenser to wash hair, body and hands.

“Poor location to see London - may be fine for Olympics”

The hotel was fine, but the location was very inconvenient. A lot of renovation is going on in preparation for the Olympics next year, so sidewalks (pavement) was torn up making for a challenging 15 minute walk to the nearest tube station, and then another 15 minute ride on the tube with transfers to get to downtown London. Came close to ruining our time in London. Complimentary breakfast was good, and staff was helpful. 30 pounds to get to central London by Taxi (about $50.)

“Nasty, Unhelpful, Impatient Staff--but facilities were good”

The hotel is understaffed at the front desk bar area. We came and went at different times and needed information/help and found we had to wait long periods for the staff. When they finally were able to assist us, many times they seems annoyed. This was not just one staff member but many. Now, our requests were not difficult or petty....room keys didn't work, needed to pay to internet access, or just check in or out. We actually stayed at the hotel 2 separate times during our stay because of convenience.....ie: we were allowed to keep luggage there while we traveled to France and near sites we wanted to see. The rooms were nice but we were unable to adjust the temperature and the window only opened a bit, so airflow was limited and stuffy. The in site bar was nice and the food from dinners delicious. We didn't eat the breakfast as we are late sleepers. The hotel was quiet and clean. The walk to the tube is about a half mile, but readily accessible.
