"After the Daughter's Wedding"
After the daughters wedding in Kona we drove over to Hilo to visit Valcano National Park. The hotel is a damily hotel and very quaint. It is licated right outside of Hilo and only a mile from the airport. There are not manny flights in and out of Hilo so that is not a problem. It is right on a bay. There is a very beautiful Japanese garden in walking distance. The hotel supplies a full breakfast which was very good. It is a sit down meal not a continentaal breakfast. The rooms are just right. The staff was really nice and very helpful. The resturante is attached to the hotel. The food was very good. There was a guitar player that played very nice dinner music. Theree was manny local people there which shows it is a popular place. I would stay there again and plan to the next time were are in Hilo.

"An oasis of splendor"
Unfortunately, I came to Hilo, HI for work and not pleasure so I didn't get much time to fully enjoy myself and take in the entire property as I wanted to, but the experience of my first B & B was a very enjoyable one non the less. Being prior military and my current job I travel(ed) worldwide and have never stayed at a B & B, so this was my first. I chose this Inn because I heard the hotels in Hilo were not very accommodating and thought I'd try this out. The rode to the actual Inn was pretty far off the beaten path and I took the initial drive to the property in the dark so my trip to wasn't my cup of tea. However, once I arrived and was created by Jane I knew I was in good hands. I was directed to my room right away and even offered dinner. Unfortunately my entire visit was all work and very little pleasure so I really regret not being able to stay longer. I was able to take a quick walk down to the falls and take great pics. Such a gorgeous place. Rooms were clean and I was within earshot of the falls so I was easily serenaded to sleep every night. I would definitely recommend this Inn to anyone and would like to come back and visit should I return to the Big Island.

"Excellent service and beautiful location"
This was a great place to stay! Lots of beautiful plants and trees that Nora and her husband planted themselves. Their cats and dogs are sometimes out and very friendly. They also have a pet llama and some goats. At night, there are hundreds of frogs croaking/singing, which may not sound great, but was actually very pleasant and soothing. We were able to request the things we wanted for breakfast, and there was a binder full of recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. Nora was very helpful and friendly! Our living space included a bedroom, bathroom and living room with a great view. About 10 miles outside of Hilo, but not hard to get to (though finding it the first time was a bit tricky-dont' rely on GPS or Google/Apple maps). My only complaint is that there's only about 5 minutes worth of hot water, so shower fast! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Hilo.

    Pocket Guide: Hawaii Hilo Hotels

Sugar was once king in Hilo. Now, the town is known for its bay, shops, and farmers market that teems with exotic fruit. Swaying hips abound at Hilo’s Merrie Monarch Festival, a week-long hula contest held after Easter. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is nearby. There, Kilauea is the hottest attraction as one of the world’s most active volcanoes. At its helm is Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess.
