“Common Areas Great; Suite in Sad State of Repair”

I have written a few hotel reviews in my time so this one is difficult. Without question the "common areas" of Contessa are unparalleled. The pool, gardens, and tennis court are immaculate and the setting spectacular. However the specific apartment was sad in comparison: the carpet was filthy, the furniture stained, the dishwasher not working, drape handles broken, the fans noisy, and so on. I suspect some of this is the result of the "time share" nature of the private units, but the management and Expedia would be well advised to insist upon a certain standard within the PRIVATE SPACE as being at as high a level of care as the larger shared spaces, enough to allow visitors to enjoy a great vacation without an obvious concern regarding the comparative cleanliness of the particular suite to the larger development. The carpet in the suite I was in was, in a word, disgusting. The living room furniture barely better. This is all very unfortunate as the Contessa Building and Main Beach are an amazing setting in many respects.
