“Highly Recommended”

From the front desk staff, to the excellent location, to the very quiet and comfortable room, this hotel is highly recommended. We stayed here with two teenage sons (14 and 17) and had plenty of room (especially by European room standards). The breakfast was not extravagant, but sufficient to fuel you for walking until lunch. The desk staff is very helpful and they speak flawless English. The location is very convenient to both the Duomo and museums as well as the train station for arrival and side trips. The food in Florence was great everywhere we went. It was really hard to leave, even for the teenage boys!

“Great experience”

The hotel was quaint and clean. The staff was wonderfully helpful and made our stay even better. The breakfast was good. The convience of having internet access in the lobby was great. We were able to correspond via email as well as look up tour times and make dinner reservations. Outstanding place to stay. Also the Gelateria on the corner served wonderful crepes and the owner was extremely friendly and gracious.

“All here-close to train, Duomo, free Internet”

We were SO pleased with this hotel! Ambience, beautiful tile floors, ceilings, free Internet, great breakfast-even though it was included with the room, staff came by to refill our coffe, bring us hot milk, etc. Overall, great service, so close to train station and Duomo, couldn't ask for more. And the free Internet, woo hoo. Quiet too, no trouble dropping off to sleep. Shower in our room was amusing-next to the nice deep tub, but shower had no walls.

“Very nice”

Porta Faenza Hotel is conveniently near the train station and within walking distance to the Florence highlights. Our room was very nice. The desk staff spoke pretty good English. A restaurant a few doors down, the "Enzo E Piero" was very good and reasonably priced. If we go back to Florence we would definitely stay at the Porta Faenza.

“Wonderful Florentine hotel”

We loved the way the hotel was decorated. The breakfast was the best we had (compared to those in 3 other hotels) in our three week trip to Italy.

“A good place to stay”

I stayed at the hotel with my wife and two teenage daughters. We had a comfortable room and found the hotel a good base to explore the city on foot. The road it is on leads directly in to the centre of the city but is far enough out of the centre to be away from the crowds. The girls voted Florence the best Italian city they have visited which means they prefered it to Rome and Venice and they liked both of them a lot.

“great place to stay”

just on the edge of the central attractions core area, an easy 10-15 minute walk, and with the market, station and local shops for water, etc nearby, this is a great place to stay. The hotel has a distinct historic flavour, with local artefacts dotted around in alcoves and plenty of glass colour windows - my camera was in use on the interior - how many hotels would prompt that? Above all the staff were without exception friendly and happy to help, there is (one) free internet point near reception, the room was big (4 adults), a/c effective and the breakfast excellent.

“A nice touch!”

Very comfortable, centrally located with enthousiastic helpful staff. Shortly after our arrival, a tap on outr door revealed a young lady with a tray containing a small bottle of wine, two glasses and assorted chocolates! We had arrived on my birthday which they realized from our passports at check-in. Many of the better restaurants in the area were closed on Sunday.
