“Great views, great location.”

The hotel is large and extremely well situated. It is close to all attractions and amenities in town. The beds are very comfortable and the hotel was quiet so we slept well. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was black marble! However I couldn't use the hair dryer in it because the power point wasn't compatible. The room had tea and coffe making facilities but no other crockery or cutlery which we would have liked. Overall our stay was a happy one and we would definitely stay there again.

“Great experience!”

We had a beautiful lakeside room. The receptionist was very helpful and gave us some ideas of where to eat if we didn't want to eat at the hotel. We enjoyed our experience there.

“Great Locations!”

Great hotel centrally located in Te Anau across from the lake. Beautiful grounds and views. We drove to find a restaurant for dinner rather than walk, but it is a great walking area with sidewalks and nature trails. Loved it!

“Great, central location for visit to Milford Sound”

We stayed in a lakefront hotel room - the road runs between the hotel and the lake, but otherwise your view is uninterrupted. Great pub next door - good meals and drinks - or dine in the hotel's restaurant (a little on the expensive side but they were offering 10% off food and drinks in the restaurant for hotel guests). We stayed 2 nights and drove to Milford Sound on the middle day which was ideal. We easily made the drive to Milford in time for the 10:30/11am cruise - ie before the tourist coaches from Queenstown arrived - and left again before all the buses got on the move. It would be a long day from Queenstown, so staying in Te Anau was perfect for us. Would definitely stay here again. Only complaint was that whilst the room had 2 x queen beds, it was really only set up for 2 people (we had 3 people in the room) and this was a little squishy with luggage, etc.

“A good base for Milford Sound”

Te Anau has a lovely lake and various attractions but it's main purpose is a base for travellers to the nearby Milford Sound. As such, we were just looking for some cheap and cheerful accommodation. This hotel fit the bill; our room was seriously dated but it was roomy and the location was terrific. We'd probably stay there again.

“Great hotel location..quite a romantic spot”

We loved the quality of our lake view room, relaxe ambience and the views of the lake. The bar staff were a bit lost and without a clue when asked about the bar menu..took three people many attempts to find out what food was available on the tapas menu promotedby the check in girl. In the end, after half an hour and having to ask three staff, it was determined that no tapas menu was on offer contrary to hotel documentation and the advice to eat in the bar from this menu which was only available in summer. During the off peak season, the hotel is relatively quiet and food options limited to the restaurant menu only. The restaurant food was superb and recommended. The hotel stay was a highlight of our South island holiday despit any confusion about the bar menu. The staff try to look after you. Even though they are not informed of seasonal changes to menus and services. Go on the glow worm caves tour and a Milford sound cruise. All can be booked from the hotel but do so before you arrive as they fill quickly and urging the busy summer seasons you will miss out.
