“We would go back”

If you end up on the side of the hotel facing the road. Not good! There is a grate that bangs every time a vehicle comes in or out. Traffic starts at 5am through to 1am. We were moved to the port side of the hotel. That was quiet and relaxing. Cleaning staff forget to do things but that could be fixed with some training. The pool area is very relaxing but the pool would suit bondi icebergs. Overall the hotel is in a great location and has a fabulous out look over the harbor Apart from a few hick ups we would go back again. And the staff try very hard to make your stay enjoyable.

Area recommendations

The wharf area, fanny bay at sunset, Mary river wildlife boat cruise, the Thursday markets, leitchfield national park. But many more!

“Would stay there again”

Overnight stayed there. Modern fittings throughout. Nice outlook. Staff were attentive. A little bit of a walk to the CBD but lets face it - most of us could use the fitness.

Area recommendations

The NT art gallery is worth seeing...must get to Mindil beach markets on Thursday and Sunday evenings between April and October.

Dining

A variety of eateries on Mitchell St in the centre of town. Thaidelicious is reasonably priced and good quality.

“Very impressed”

We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay at the Medina in a one bedroom apartment. It is in an excellent location and our room was very clean and comfortable and serviced daily. The harbour view is fabulous. There are many restaurants in this vicinity and public transport close by. Would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Area recommendations

There are city sights tours available which are very informative and I would recommend a day tour to Litchfield National Park.

“Great Location BUT........”

Great Location, Good Hotel.But.........Cleaning is pathetic. Had to ask to have linen changed & floors cleaned. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Bathroom wasnt cleaned at all during 9 nite stay. On check out found we were being charged with items not consumed, which suggests a problem with housekeeping. Reception staff amended our bill. Overall this is a GREAT location & good hotel that appears to have some rather large staffing problems.

Best area in Darwin is definatley Darwin Waterfront. Beautiful surrounds and easy access to Darwin Mall.

Dining

Best place to eat in Darwin is TIMS SURF & TURF. Great menue, Great food and excellent staff. Lunch offers $12.50 meals great value.

“Good Hotel, but Needs Improvement”

Overall, hotel stay was good. Check-in was good and staff were very friendly, especially the staff member that cleaned our room daily. Restaurant had average decor for a 4-star and the servings were over-priced for the serving size you received. The pool and associated bathroom facilities were very dirty; never seen the pool cleaned in the 11-nights we stayed. Highly recommend swimming at the Wave Pool Park directly in front of the hotel as the waterpark is better maintained. Hotel is a short walking distance to the adjacent wharf, and Darwin CBD. Also, catching the local bus was very easy as a bus depot is also a very short walking distance from the hotel. Using the internet is very expensive and woudl highly recommend using one of the nearby internet cafe's as the rates are about a third of the price.

Area recommendations

Take a tour of Katherine Gorge, especially during the wet season. The many waterfalls are incredible.

Walking is best, but local transport bus depot is only a short walk from the hotel and you can catch buses to any area of town.

“Medina Darwin great place to stay”

Hotel Medina Grand, great location friendly staff. slightly disappointed with the cleanliness of room, only a few minor things not cleaned up from previous people, but would stay there again

“Darwin Waterfront Hotel”

The one bedroom waterfront apartment was exactly what we needed for a six night stay. If mobility is a problem you should choose a more central location but everything is just a short taxi ride away. We hired a car for the the last 3 days and parking was included. It is a safe environment.

Area recommendations

Darwin is an easy city to drive around with lovely water views everywhere. It has good city restaurants and Cullen Bay is 2 km. Try Parap Cafe it is superb.

“Lovely hotel”

Reccomend this hotel. Lots of mod cons in room - t.v, microwave, large fridge, kitchenette, iPod docking station, desk for the business traveller, pool and gym - and very convenient location - great running track right outside the hotel.

Getting around

If you're staying in darwin for several days and want to see the sights, you will definitely need to hire a car. Distances are long, taxis are smelly and expensive. Book a car in advance as the rental cars book out quickly.
