“Exellent for one night stay”
I was visiting Brisbane just for a weekend. Hotel is clean and tidy, comfy and equipped with all you need when staying for a night or two. Close to all the commodities of Brisbane CBD, so it was convenient that central train station is close by, ren-a car facilities, shops... cons: pillow is to big- I strained my neck sleeping on it ....but all in all i was happy with the service and location of the hotel.
“Great Location, great hotel.”
Lovely, helpful staff. Short 5 min walk into Queen st. Breakfast at he restuarant was amazing. Disappointed it wasn't open for dinner. Really enjoyed our stay here.
“OK for short stay”
Portal hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The room was very small, but had all the basics. The walls are not well insulated, so noise from other rooms could be heard. Location is close to central station which is handy, but it is a bit of a walk (hilly) to centre of Brisbane. There was a problem with the airconditioning which made the room like a sauna. The staff fixed it when asked, but the same problem occurred again second night. The hallway was cooler than the room and the windows could not be opened. Overall the stay was satisfactory.
“Great boutique hotel”
Stayed at the portal for 3 nights in november 2010. Whilst the rooms arent huge, they are ample enough for a couple. Modern furnishings, and well appointed with all that you would expect. No pool though, which is almost a must for a qld hotel. Great location, only 5 mins walk to central station. 10 mins to queen st mall. The O bar and restaurant is VERY VERY popular on friday and saturday nights, and well worth a drink there...watch for the weekly specials!
“1 nighter”
room was a small box. airconditioning worked only if the 3 other rooms were set on the same settings. Parking price was a bit rich as well they dont mention any parking charges on the website.Apart from that nice clean hotel
“Great boutique hotel”
A wonderful hotel within 5 minutes walk of Brisbane city and Riverside wharf, 10 minutes to Fortitude valley.
“LIKE BEING ON A BOAT”
This was a lovely hotel with a very helpful staff, immaculately kept but our room was VERY small and compact. I must admit that we had everything we needed or could possibly want - iron, ironing board, mini bar with kettle, coffee, tea, etc. But to access the closet, which was the only place for 1 of our suitcases because there was SO LITTLE floor space, one had to slide the door from the closet to cover the mini-bar/cabinet/phone. If the phone rang, you had to reverse the process. And since there was no space for toiletries in the bathroom, on top of the mini bar was the only place. We had to do quite a bit of juggling. We only stayed 1 night but would need more space to stay for much longer. But it was a lovely hotel. This was very close to the Central Train Station and within walking distance to a wonderful, fun outdoor mall.
“Clean Hotel, Good Location, Small Room”
The hotel was an excellent value for the price paid (king bed room). The room was clean with fairly new furnishings, including a flat screen tv mounted on the wall. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was modern with a large walk-in shower. The only downside was the small size of the room. Essentially, there was only enough space for the bed with only two feet on either side. If you are in your room, there is no other option than to sit on the bed. I was traveling by myself and out most of the time, so this didn't bother me. However, I wouldn't recommend this for a family or anyone planning on being in their room for an extended period. The hotel has wifi, but no business center. There is a Global Gossip internet place down the hill on Edward Street. Not sure if there was a fitness facility. There were no brochures or pamphlets in the room outlining hotel services or information about the area. The staff were professional during check-in and check-out, but not overly friendly. The hotel is located on a quiet street about three blocks from Central Station. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Queen Street shopping area. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay but would consider alternate options on my next trip.
“Well priced and a new bulding”
Located close to the Central Business Districk, but far enough to be able to drive and park a car, building is clean and new
“Great hotel”
Clean comfortable hotel, good location, friendly staff. A strange thing is that having a dark coloured bathroom the lighting in there was not sufficient with the bathroom door shut.
