“Suly Resort”

The hotel was great. Beautiful grounds! Good for the price. Not especially modern or fancy accommodation. If you are very high maintenance you might want to go to a higher end place. The hotel is associated with an organic farm, and the food in the restaurant was fresh from there and very good. The rice field view room has a view of new construction rather than the rice field though.

“Spitiual and ethical place to stay.”

Further out of Ubud than I thought, but if you are a bit spiritual, then what a lovely place - can do yoga in the morning with the children at the school attached, chanting on Sundays, and be part of something that is more than a hotel. Beautiful people, and a wonderful stay.

“Treated Like Royalty”

We had a lovely stay at Suly Resort. The grounds were large and well maintained and beautiful. We were made to feel very special with a welcome sign at the front desk and offered a cold face washer and delicious juice on arrival. What makes this resort special is that 87 of the staff are students at the hotel undergoing a 3 year hotel course and even more special is that they are from underprevilaged families who otherwise wouldn't have a chance. The staff we met were extremely kind and you could tell they were trying so hard and apologised for their lack of english that I found was just fine. It is evident their training is of a high standard suitable for a five star hotel. Breakfast was delicious choosing from pancakes, omelettes which are freshly cooked and toast and fresh fruit and juices plus other choices. The room was huge and we felt like we were in a palace. It was so quiet and serene at Suly Resort with rice fields surroundig it. Although it is situated 15 minutes from the main part of Ubud a free shuttle bus is offered and a taxi ride wouldn't cost much.

“We will return to Bali and we will stay at the Suly. A unique and memorable experience”

This hotel caters more for the traveller than the tourist. A wonderful cultural experience for those who genuinely want to embrace the balinese culture(If an exotic location by the hotel pool with night life is what you are looking for this is not for you) It is a training ground for young underprivileged Indonesians to learn hospitality skills, beautiful staff, limited choice on breakfast menu but food quality and portions excellent. Yoga and cooking classes available The yoga sessions are free.If you are mindful of the footprint you leave on a culture then we urge you to support this foundation. Fluffy towels and snow white linen are not part of the package, the bathroom facilities are basic however the warmth and ambience of this place more than compensates for the lack of 5 star facilities. The rooms are very large, the bed is enormous and very comfortable, The young people are so friendly and willing to please. We could not help but feel happy in a place where the young people are so eager to learn and please.

“Will return in a flash”

I felt like part of an extended family at Suly. My privacy was respected but I could join in activities if I desired. The distance out of town was a positive, with the frequent shuttles more than adequate to get into Ubud, and the quiet at night was appreciated. The staff were excellent- while sometimes lacking in five star skill the friendliness and smiles more thanked up for this.

“Great place!”

I really enjoyed my stay in Suly resort. Rooms were clean, views to the rice fields amazing, staff very friendly and food in the restaurant really tasty. Only bad thing I would find is the location but hotel has arranged shuttle buses to Ubud centre. Higly recommended!

“Great place.”

The first thing to notice was how beautiful the grounds are. Stone carvings, lush plants and trees, gorgeous buildings... The grounds are set far enough back away from any roads so there is no noise from the traffic. The second thing to note, if you didn't already know, is that the resort is staffed by children. From reception to the spa to housekeeping, children will be ready to help you with a smiling face. They are extremely polite and are always a pleasure to deal with. We were a little unfortunate in our timing to stay here (Aug 2012) as one of the two pools was emptied out and out of order, and there was construction taking place in our block of rooms. The room was fine. The bed in our standard room was great. AC, tidied daily with two bottles of water provided. Fridge, tv and kettle. The bathroom did smell a little bit. We had free breakfast included with the room. Free wifi. The location is about a 10 minute drive from the centre of Ubud, there are free shuttles throughout the day. There are two restaurants; a main large one and a smaller one to the back of the resort. The spa was a little overpriced (a massage costing 200k compared to in Ubud where it can be 70k). There are meditation and yoga classes every day for around the same price you'd pay at home. Overall the place was a great stay. You can make it a relaxing retreat with massages, yoga etc. The staff are amazing and are always smiling and polite. I'd stay again and recommend others to stay.

“Happy customers”

Simple things like a rack to hang bathers and towels over and a good sized mirror in the room would have been great. Other little things are really just the quirkiness of Bali We really enjoyed the fabulous food at the restaurant and swimming in both of the hotel pools. Staff were friendly, helpful and only too happy to go the extra mile.
