“nice hotel poor receptionist”
Hotel was nice but the service from the receptionist was very poor. I requested a wake up call to make an early flight, but was never called. To make it worse the power went of and the bed side alarm didn't work!
“Excellent rooms, but average hotel service”
We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel, and the building is overall in excellent conditions, our 2 bedroom apartment had a small kitchen, laundry machine, dishwasher, flat lcd screen, and the beds very confortable. The location is excellent, only 2 blocks walking from skytower and very close to main points of interest. Every nigth they deliver to your room the next day breakfast consisting of bread, yoghurt, juice, bananas and some cookies. The only thing we didnt like was that the daily service only make beds and change towels, but they dont clean, or vacumm, unless you make a special request for this. Overall this was an excellent place to stay.
“Great Location”
Very comfortable and convenient place to stay . Friendly and helpful staff
“No frills accomodation in Auckland”
Booked into Auckland City Oaks after reading reviews on Expedia. The hotel is out of the the CBD area which I thought I wanted in case of noise issues. The hotel is a 10 minute uphill walk from the Airport bus drop off point (Stop 3, Queen Street). On arrival it was apparent that the hotel is not 4.5 stars (more like 3 stars). The hotel feels a little tired but offers basic, value accommodation - just don't expect glamour!. Reception staff friendly. My room was basic and functional but not really welcoming. Some light fixtures were not working (blown bulbs). Living area has basic furniture; no desk lamp (or any table lamps for that matter). No in-room complimentary tea/coffee. Breakfast pack really basic - juice box, yogurt, fruit bread roll, muesli bar, apple. Would not stay again unless I was on a really tight budget. On the plus side, the hotel is 10 minute walk from Hertz car rental location on Victoria Street West.
“Highly Recommend”
This hotel is great our two bedroom apartment on the eight floor was very comfortable the beds very comfortable set out well with kitchenette, large fridge small shops near bye you can stock up and avoid eating out and spending your money on takeaway, the room was serviced each day, very clean, the breakfast left each night was fresh fruit, muesli bar and a very tasty bun that you could toast if you want. The service was excellent and if you catch public transport or walk your not far from the main attractions, the only catch is the parking pay the $20 each day and book ahead the street is not really avail for parking weekends not too much probs, but don't leave your car there they will tow it and $225 later you get it back, our fault, altogether a great stay would highly recommend especially for families. Bathroom has shower and washer/dryer.They think of everything.Computer in Lobby ok for small use,bit slow.
“Love Auckland and NZ”
Clean and tidy hotel. If catching airbus, there is quite a walk uphill to reach it. Staff are friendly and helpful.
“not impressed”
good location and nothing more. carpet extremely old and dirty. requested busted lightbulbs replaced but never done(4 nights with no dining table light). walls too thin, you can hear neighbours' washing machines late at night. very difficult parking.
“Good place to stay for a short holiday.”
We are happy with Auckland city oaks, clean rooms & sheets. Big rooms and we got a good room spot. I will definitely want to stay here if we will comeback for holiday again.
“Great Location”
Hotel was in a great location, close walking distance to city shopping water front and Skytower and finally the casino. Family rooms were of good size for the money although getting alittle on the tired side. Staff friendly. Only thing is you have to book car park and pay approx $NZ 16 per day.
“Modern, comfortable and best value for money!”
We travelled to NZ (MARCH 2011) for the first time and our first stop was Auckland. Out of the whole trip, we found the City Oaks, THE BEST value for money! The rooms were really modern and most of all clean. It had everything we wanted, twin rooms, a dishwasher, kitchenette, washer/dryer and breakfast. If you are older and cannot do as much walking, I suggest finding a place closer to the harbor, but if you don't mind a short walk, the City Oaks is definitely worth it. The breakfast is pretty simple (few pieces of bread in a zip-lock bag, bottle OJ and cereal), but it's all you really need. There is a free tourist bus around town, which drops you off at Sky City which is a 5 minute walk away. The accommodation isn't big, but certainly clean. No parking onsite. I recommend staying on the upper floors, as you get a bit of a view of the water. The hotel organized for us a private pick up from the Airport for $50NZD. The only minor bad point was that the lobby and hallways are not air-conditioned and stifling hot, but then again, your only walking through them to catch the lift. Staff really helpful. Would definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit.
