Such a lovely location for exploring Mellieha and a beautiful view of the parish church. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The buffet breakfast was yummy and the quality of the evening buffet was very good.

Firstly I must say the staff were always helpful and Oliver who worked at The Prickly Pear, lovely, always a smile on his face and made amazing mojitos! The communal areas are very clean and modern, however my room was not exactly up to the same standard. Maybe I’ve just been lucky in other 4 star hotels I’ve stayed in, but normally I would expect shampoo at the very least, but that’s not so bad. However being placed next to the games room, was awful, when people were in there at night it sounded like they were in the room with me, so loud! And the machines don’t get turned off until 11pm. The elevators are extremely near to this room as well and despite it being a fire door to my room and the games room, this was propped open majority of the time. This also meant I could hear guests coming and going at all hours of the morning from the elevators. The air con would sometimes make quite loud noises for no apparent reason during the night, which was difficult to sleep through. It’s a shame because the staff were nice enough and the area is lovely (minus all the road works currently)

We stayed at AX The Palace for a week with 2 children in a family room, which was quite big, with a huge bed for the parents and a sofa bed for the kids. Breakfast was excellent with everything you can think of (from cereals to cooked English breakfast, from vegetables and plenty of salads to fruit and desserts). The indoor swimming pool was a great addition, and we used it daily especially in the afternoons, after exploring Malta during the day. The outdoor pool was a bit chilly for April, but in the summer it must be amazing. As we booked half board we also had 7 dinners. Although the food was great, it felt a bit repetitive on some days. The staff were all fantastic, very helpful and attentive. Location of the hotel is also amazing - in the heart of Sliema, minutes walk from the Valletta ferry and plenty of cafes and restaurant around as well. We used the indoor swimming pool daily in the afternoons, after exploring Malta during the day. The outdoor pool was bigger but it was a bit chilly for us to make use of it on most days. We are sure it's amazing in the summer!

Need new beds and the air conditioning was preset and couldn’t be changed. So the room at night was hot. Nice rooftop pool. It’s all stairs so bringing luggage in is a hassle. The luggage room is self serve so people can move your bags around and have access to them.
