My husband and I stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for a total of 3 nights in the Premier Room, and we had a good experience overall. The staff were fantastic, and our gripes were to do with design features in the hotel which the service staff had little to no control over. Pros: - The room was very clean, and overall cleanliness in the public areas was great as well - The bathroom in the Premier Room was spacious and comfortable - Although we only had 2 canned drinks from the complimentary minibar, the free bottled water and anything complimentary is always appreciated. - The buffet breakfast selection on Level 2 was pretty good, covering western and Asian cuisines, as well as having a live station. Food options also changed from day to day. - Gravity, the rooftop bar, was great. Loved the light-up menus! Cons: - Whilst the curtains are of block-out fabric, there is a huge gap between the curtain and the frame of the window, so sunlight would stream into the room like a laser beam every morning and wake us up much earlier than we wanted to - The mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were not. It took requests for 3 different types of pillows to finally land on a marginally acceptable one. (But Priya from Reservations was very nice about it) - We had the corner room but the walls were quite thin so we kept hearing the door slamming in the room next to ours. - For such a big bathroom, it would have been much better and more convenient to have double sinks, a

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The property is beautiful, but it’s the staff and service that truly set this place apart. Throughout my stay, all the staff were incredibly attentive, helped me find my way around the best local spots, and had the most positive and helpful attitude all round. The location was also perfectly placed in Georgetown, close to all the tourist spots whilst not being on a busy or noisy road. Breakfast was included and, much like the heritage of Penang itself, I was treated to a range of local delicacies reflecting the wide mix of cultures found across the island. The room itself was fantastic. I was actually upgraded to a bigger suite, and the bathroom has to be the standout feature, with a gorgeous tub placed perfectly beneath huge windows. The hotel offers a butler bath service where they draw you a bath and provide some divine tea to pair with your soak. The toiletries are all Aesop, and the hotel only has six rooms, paying homage to its heritage with lodging upstairs and a wonderful restaurant below. This is definitely worth the money. For the price, the level of personal service and those little luxury touches made it feel far more exclusive than the rate would suggest. If I’m being picky, the air conditioning was great, though only had an on/off setting rather than adjustable temp, which was a minor issue for me as I feel the cold easily. Between the staff and those little personal touches, I’m already looking for an excuse to go back.

Beautiful stay in the picturesque, atmospheric Blue Mansion. The hotel staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. A wonderful place to stay for a few nights in George Town

The heritage hotel is newly renovated, so as you’re welcomed you’ll see the space has been really nicely done and feels modern whilst also keeping the heritage of the original space. It’s in a pretty good location, with local street food around the corner and a short Grab to the centre of Penang. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities you should need, with room turnaround also available. They also offer laundry service (but much cheaper to get done in the centre). Generally we really liked this hotel as it was clean, comforting room but we found one thing strange - they asked us to remove our wet clothes and towels from the balcony area. They offered a solution to bring a rack up, but it never turned up so we had to let our clothes dry on the balcony floor. This was ultimately fine - I just felt this was very style over substance and why did it really matter we were drying our stuff? It also felt like we were being watched as when I went outside, a staff member was looking up to our balcony. I personally found this strange but I guess it’s their hotel policy. Overall though, this was a nice hotel and also offered decent drinks and food at a cost.
