We stayed at this hotel for 10 days, and on 6 of those days, the bathroom sink was clogged and wouldn't drain, which was very unpleasant for us.

The service and location were the top two factors for us at H.E. Every single worker, especially Apolinar and Isabel M., were top tier, friendly, and remembered you very personally while trying to deliver the best possible experience every meal. The location was perfect because the resort is effectively on a peninsula where you can see skylines to both the west and the east from higher viewpoints, particularly the Mestizo restaurant. All the food was excellent, but our favorites were at Los Riscos and breakfast at Las Marias. My recommendation would be to call concierge before your trip and plan all of your dinners ahead of time. Lunch and breakfast don’t need reservations, but it’s quiet all around (at least when we went), so I wouldn’t worry much in low season. The resort has a bit of a slow start, usually everything ready around 11, and earlier close when it comes to pools (8AM - 8PM), but we didn’t mind because it was meant to be a relaxing vacation and weren’t rushing to do things. The resort provided us a shuttle that frequently went to the downtown for free, and some restaurants downtown were included in our meal plan, which was really nice. Those restaurants were equally as yummy as the ones on site. Overall, we got a fantastic deal on Expedia and certainly got our money worth, and it was one of our most luxurious vacations ever. Rooms weren’t necessarily special and we weren’t in them all that much, but we did get a free upgrade. All the workers are super helpful.

Unfortunately, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was a disappointment. The resort is beautiful, but we spent way too much of our vacation waiting. Restaurants, breakfast buffet, food at The Market, and long lines for the shuttles. The pools were extremely crowded, it was hard to find a place to sit, and the pool service was poor. At one point, a waiter actually told us to save our straws because they didn’t have any more. We also struggled with food options because of a shellfish allergy. We ended up going to Pueblo Bonito Rosé two days in a row and had a completely different experience. The service there was excellent and we really enjoyed our time. For the price and reputation of Sunset Beach, we expected much better. Unfortunately, we would not return.

It is an oasis in the dessert, beautifle and well maintained. The all inclusive is for average food. If you want steak or lobster it is an upgrade in price sometimes worth it sometimes not.
