Room and views were fabulous. The compromise for having super views and complete quietness was that the location was a little isolated. Great overnight stop if catching the Bilbao ferry back to England

It was OK
It was alright. I was really looking forward to this hotel in our 7 day trip around northern Spain and basque but unfortunately it didn’t deliver. It was alright but I specifically booked it as it was a hotel and spa. What I didn’t understand when booking was that you had to pay additional to use the spa. And it was per person. My wife and I love spas. We got to the hotel for 4pm to take full advantage and use of the spa as the weather was not so nice. However, the spa was €30 per person and was for 1 hour. If we wanted to use the spa for 2 hours it would have cost €120! Seems a little wrong in my opinion. I understand the reasoning behind the reservation to have privacy but in off season when there were not very many guests at all….. it felt like a let down. I can imagine how beautiful it would have been if it wasn’t so cloudy and raining. Room was ok, TV was good! Literally all day and night sitting in our room watching TV. It was a shame. Felt isolated and limited which wasn’t good..

Perfect location
Lovely spot in the mountains, easy drive to both Bilbao and south. Amazing hosts, and the breakfast buffet had a lot of selection. Highly recommend staying here. The spa is an additional cost 20€ I believe, and the dinner seemed to be a set fee of 39€ but we didn’t eat as only stayed 1 night . Would definitely stay again for longer l

Amazing landscape and unique design. Property located in the rural area. No 24-hour staff. We needed to leave around 0600 and found that gates were closed and there nobody to open them. We called the number provided and after a while someone answered with no knowledge of English keep saying "no understand". Finally someone show up at the gates and still did not want to open them, saying :"It's too early. You have to pay first" even we were not checking out. After arguing back and forth he finally opened gates and we were able to get to the place we needed. This would not happen if we would be aware that gates will be closed at night.

OMG! This place is amazing! It’s definitely a hidden gem (literally) but well worth the drive from Bilbao. Couldn’t have been happy. Make you feel like family when you are there. Thank you Luis and staff!

Stayed at the hotel/spa for a few days while on business. True to it's name, it was a place to relax and enjoy the quiet. Having a coffee in the morning while looking out over the mountains was a nice start to the day. Restaurant and bar were well stocked. Excellent value as well. Would without hesitation recommend to friends and look forward to staying again.

Picturesque!
This is a beautiful, small, family run hotel. The surrounding area could be a movie setting with snow capped mountains ( our visit was in March), green foot hills with grazing sheep, and beautiful stone homes with red tiled roofs. It was peaceful, and relaxing. The owners and their family are all very kind and gracious. The hotel is filled with gorgeous Indonesian carved furnishings, stained glass, and beautiful tile. The food was fabulous and the wine exceptional. If you are in the Bilao Spain area, it's worth the 45 mn drive to treat yourself and stay at Etxegana!

We had a really relaxing 2 night stop on the way home from our holiday home on the Costa Blanca, before catching the ferry back from Bilbao.

Hotel en un enclave espectacular. Se respira paz, tranquilidad, sosiego, naturaleza; los únicos ruidos son los pajaritos y los cenceros de la ganadería. Habitación muy amplia, con balcón. En el que sentabas a leer un ratito y era muy agradable. Cuarto de baño con bañera de hidromasaje y luz natural. El desayuno es muy variado. Sentados en un salón con vistas a las montañas, para empezar el día con relajación. Las cenas son muy muy ricas, lo pagas, pero vale la pena. El spa, esta muy chulo y además es de uso individualizado por lo cual hay que reservar, coste adicional. Una hora se pasa muy muy rápido. El personal muy profesional. Recibimos un trato exquisito. No le encuentro ningún punto negativo.

Hotel excepcional en un paraje idiico, habitacion y baño amplios y confortables.Mobiliario clasico pero muy bien cuidado y de calidad desayuno y restaurante excelente a destacar la amabilidad y dedicación de todo el personla y la decoracion , con puertas de madera y figuras artesales .Una maravilla!!! solo me molestaron minimamante los cencerros de las vaquitas del prado adyacente

Une ARNAQUE !! FUYEZ Piscine couverte annoncée, donc on pense piscine inclue dans le prix de la nuitée et bien NON ! 25€/pers !! Ce n'est pas une piscine mais un mini bassin attenant au spa, donc payant !! De plus chambres très mal insonorisées, personnels pas sympa, déco surchargée et mélangée ôtant tout charme aux boiseries balinaises... Et enfin, loin, très loin, rien n'est à proximité... Donc demi-pension obligé !! 32€/menu

Uitrusten in de bergen
Mooi hotel in de bergen. De inrichting met antiek meubilair is smaakvol en komt niet oubollig over. De kamer was groot met prima badkamer. Na een wandeling is de spa (Turks bad, sauna, bubbelbad) ook aangenaam maar een uurtje voor €25 pp vinden we aan de dure kant. Het restaurant biedt voldoende afwisseling voor enkele dagen, een dat is fijn want er is verder niets in de buurt. Veel wandelmogelijkheden in de directe omgeving. Niet alle personeel verstaat Engels.

Bonito hotel de montaña. Acceso algo complicado pero compensado de sobras con los parajes del entorno. Ya el primer día nos sorprendió un cervatillo en el camíno de acceso. Desayuno no muy variado aunque de calidad. Instalaciones del SPA de pago adicional.

Un sitio de lujo. El mejor lugar posible para relajarse, descansar y disfrutar del entorno. Un servicio excepcional y un restaurante que es una gozada gastronómica. No se me ocurre ni un solo pero que poner.

Ideal para descansar en un sitio apartado
Hotel muy bonito y una habitación muy amplia, con una bonita decoración y mobiliario.El personal es muy amable y colaborador. Lo peor es que no es cómoda para trabajar en ella, por su ubicación, el acceso es complicado y la primera vez es fácil perderte. El precio inicial me pareció correcto en comparación con otros, pero me pareció excesivo el aumento del coste de la estancia al desplazar la entrada un día.

Magnifique hôtel au pied des montagnes. Pas facile à trouver, surtout lorsqu'on arrive de nuit. Personnel très serviable et agreable, chambres et hôtel superbes.

Lugar bonito servicios caros y limitados
Es muy tranquilo y tiene un paisaje realmente excepcional. Mal de no avisar que el balneario se paga aparte, el gorro, y las chanclas feas y de usar y tirar demasiado caras. Una carta muy limitada y cara. Poca variedad. Pero el sitio en si, es de lujo!!

Hotel du Silence un vrai bonheur !!
Nous sommes arrivés à l' hôtel par GPS car sinon difficile à trouver ,par une petite route qui n' est pas terrible. Il vaut mieux passer dans Zeanagury et à la sortie du village prendre Ipinaburu à conseiller à vos futurs clients!Sinon séjour très agréable pour ceux qui veulent de la tranquillité on ne fait pas mieux avec le directeur et le personnel très accueillant et sympathique .Bon buffet au petit dej. et repas du soir très bien . Il faut aller à Areatza petit village très typique espagnol surtout à l'heure de l' apéro le soir...content de séjour à l' Hôtel du Silence à recommander !!

El hotel está situado en un paraje precioso
Hotel para disfrutar de una tranquilidad absoluta con un paisaje precioso. El personal muy amable, las habitaciones y zonas comunes muy bonitas con una decoración original. La cena la disfrutamos mucho y tan solo echamos de menos algún plato caliente en el desayuno. Pero el resumen es para nosotros muy recomendable.

Hotel precioso en un enclave espectacular
Hemos pasado dos dias en el Hotel Etxegana. Es precioso y además muy silencioso, donde se puede descansar y desconectar en medio del parque natural del Gorbeia. El trato del personal excelente. Por poner un punto a mejorar: quizás el restaurante un poco caro. Pero estaba todo buenismo ... Así que compensa.

Les plus: c'est vrai, cet hôtel est situé dans un endroit magnifique et la plupart des chambres ont une belle vue sur la montagne. La chambre est décorée de façon rustique/ambiance indonésienne. Le bâtiment en lui même est très beau. Bonne literie. Facilité de parking. Les moins: le prix est clairement excessif étant données les prestations et l'exiguité de la salle de bain (à la limite du confort). Le pare-douche est minuscule, et le sol est facilement arrosé ... Le petit déjeuner est bon mais il faut arriver dans les premiers car les stocks sont peu renouvelés. Confiture commerciale de basse qualité en petit pots plastique. Accueil très neutre, on aurait apprécié un peu plus de chaleur ... Le gros "moins": isolation phonique à revoir entre les chambres, on entendait notre voisin ronfler ... et c'est un relais du silence ...

Un joli hôtel en pleine nature pour rayonner
Cet établissement décoré avec des boiseries d'Asie du Sud-Est dégage une agréable et éclectique atmosphère. Les chambres sont spacieuses et bien agencées. Le petit-déjeuner buffet est bien garni, la salle des repas très vaste et ouvrant sur un panorama bucolique. Le personnel de cet hôtel familial est accueillant, disponible et diligent.Eric, le fils des propriétaires, est tout à fait aimable, toujours prêt à vous rendre service. Vous disposerez de tous les renseignements nécessaires pour visiter la région. C'est d'ailleurs sont emplacement qui nous a déterminés dans notre choix : à une heure de Bilbao, de Vittoria-Gasteiz, et dans une très belle nature. Il y a un menu proposé le soir tout à fait correct. pour 30 euros bien conçu mais pas de possibilités de choisir à la carte. Cet établissement fait partie d'un groupement des Hôtels Relais du Silence, mais l'isolation phonique des chambres n'est pas parfaite. Au premier étage, les sols sont en bois, et les insomniaques s'entendent au rez-de-chaussée. Il y a bien un SPA et la possibilité d'obtenir toutes sortes de massages et soin sur rendez-vous, mais les prix sont assez élevés et il faut avoir prévu dans ses baguages un peignoir qui ne sera pas fourni sur place mais vendu. Enfin, même muni d'un GPS, l'hôtel est difficile à trouver car il faut emprunter des petites, très petites routes sans qu'aucun panneau indicateur ne nous invite à retrouver l'hôtel.

Alcanzó y superó todas nuestras expectativas. Excelente ubicación si lo que buscas es hacer turismo por Euskadi o simplemente desconectar en medio de un parque natural rodeado de montañas. Muy buena cocina. El trato de los propietarios y del personal, inmejorable. Para volver.
