Perfect location, great amenities, beautiful historic property. Comfy beds, well-appointed kitchen, cozy living room. This was a Christmas we will never forget,
We had a lovely 6-day stay in this very comfortable and picturesque apartment with a perfect location. Communication with the booking agent was pleasant and efficient, their service was very friendly, helpful and professional. Hopefully we’ll have another York visit at some point - we’d be happy to stay in the Micklegate Residence again.
We loved the property----beautiful with beamed ceilings and brick walls! It was nearby to restaurants, grocery stores and just a short walk to The Shambles. Being right in city center meant that we could walk just about anywhere in a short period of time. The only problem we had was with the parking registration, but that was eventually sorted out.
We absolutely loved staying in this authentic period yet modern apartment. So well situated to wander the old city with everything close by. Great room was beautiful and large. Bedrooms were situated at the back of the place and so very quiet. We also loved the restaurant and bar recommendations and would not hesitate to stay here again. Love love loved it!!!!

Ideal location
We had a great midweek stay.
The car park is a 10 min walk away. Luckily it's a downhill walk when arriving! It was great to have it included in the stay.
Even better was to receive a text to give us an earlier check in.
The apartment is lovely and ideal for our party of 2 couples.
The kitchen is really well equipped, though the central location means there are plenty of places to eat out.
We would definitely stay again, but would take an eye mask as the main bedroom is quite light.

A lovely weekend in York
Our weekend in York was to celebrate a family member's birthday, and it was really lovely. The accommodation had a real 'wow' factor. It was unusual, very comfortable, well equipped and very central to everything.
The second bedroom was on the small side, but perfectly adequate. Being right in the centre there was, of course, some noise in the street outside, but as the bedrooms were out the back, this caused no problems at all.
The door out to the street was difficult to shut - but that probably has nothing to do with the property being reviewed.
We would certainly recommend this accommodation to others.

Micklegate Residence, York
Overall, Micklegate Residence was as expected and looked the same as in the photos. The central location is excellent with everything in walking distance so no need for buses or taxis.
The only issue for us, as five adults, was it’s great for four but not for five. The person who slept in the living room hardly got any sleep as the bed settee was really uncomfortable and due to the central location, the traffic was constant so it was really noisy all night. She slept on cushions in one of the back bedrooms on the second night. We would however, definitely stay there again if there’s only 4 adults.

A lovely stay
This large apartment is up one flight of stairs and very pleasant with exposed beams. It's located on a busy street with many local amenities close by. Most visitor sights are north of the river so requires some walking but everything is close by so no issues. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen but was not used by us as we enjoyed using the local coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.
Car parking is available but remotely located around 10 mins walk away. Dropping off luggage and passengers on arrival would require you stopping on double yellow lines, we chose to park further up the hill in a dedicated car parking space, again no real problem but if you have some mobility issues please bear this in mind.

Historic flat in York
This flat was amazing! From the way that it has been redone to include the beams to the layout and huge size of it and it was extremely clean! The location is about an 8 minute walk to the train station and just about a 5 minute or so walk to the shops and the area known as the Shambles. The two bedrooms with two bathrooms worked perfectly for our trip. We did find it odd however to not have any shampoo or soap for the shower which a lot of accommodations do provide. It would be easy to do so. However, the included washer and dryer came in handy (and drying rack too which a lot of places don’t have). The kitchen had a big refrigerator which was nice as we stocked up with some food from the grocery store just a couple doors down. Check in and directions were nice and clear to understand. This company is easy to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this flat again.

Very Disappointing
Fabulous location, lovely place & well equipped.
However, arrived & the place had not been cleaned. Phoned the emergency number, explained the situation & were told to go out and the cleaner would be in.
We had a long train journey and wanted to relax, but went out to dinner reluctantly.
Received notification of cleaning completed, apparently!
The oven had not been cleaned, the bed did not have a mattress protector & the sheet was too small for the bed. This I find totally unacceptable as this is unhygienic.
A very disappointing stay and over priced for what we received.
Will definitely not use StaysYork again.
The 2 bed/2 bath was with walking distance of train station and attractions of York. It was clean, spacious, and nicely appointed. There even were several through blankets in the living room which made added to the cozy atmosphere. The only draw backs for some might be stairs to get to the apt. and a step down to the on-suite bathroom, otherwise this place is great .
Check in was very easy with clear instructions. The flat iself is a well done update of a very cool historical structure. The flats location is ideal. There is a grocery store just down the street and getting into York is a short walk across the bridge and you're there. Everything is within walking distance. The Minster, Museums, markets and the shambles, all close. We highly recommend the Micklegate flat.

So close to perfection
We absolutely loved this property, the space and the location. So little to find wrong with it on that front. The only thing that could be improved upon is the cleanliness - and maintenance of small things like the cutlery draw. Although not massively dirty, we felt a bit more care and attention to deep cleaning of the carpets, ensuring crockery had been washed in the dishwasher and perhaps keeping on top of the mould build up in the bathrooms would have made this place perfect. All in all though, it was a beautiful and amazing place to stay and we hope on our next visit to York we are lucky enough to be able to stay here again..:availability allowing. Thank you Stay York for the best place we have found to stay in York.
It was a beautiful and comfortable home which was in a great location, allowing us to be able to walk around and enjoy all the city has to offer. Just be prepared to climb two flights of stairs to get into the house. We would pick this home again, which is apparently beautifully decorated at Christmas!
I’ve stayed in many vacation rentals in the US, Canada, UK and EU, and this is my favorite. My husband and I were visiting from Texas, his sons came down from New Castle. This beautiful home had everything we needed. Kitchen is well appointed, washer works very well, and living area has plenty of space to relax and catch up. We will definitely consider staying here again when we return to York.

Excellent stay
Wonderful flat in a great location. The expose beams were gorgeous and the flat was so spacious. Nice welcome pack with everything you need to get started. The beds were comfy and plenty of big soft towels. Car park was close to the property and easy to find and it was only a short walk to the sights and shops in York. Had a fabulous time and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here next time we come to York.
A beautiful? charming and spacious apartment that combines a blend with York's history (the half-timber vaulted reception room) with all the mod cons (kitchen & bathrooms). Brilliant location in easy walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, et al.Two small cautions to the mobility impaired or tall: it is 31 stairsteps from the street to the living space; and slanted ceilings and beam into one side of the reception room is only 5'11" high.Wi-fi often doesn't reach master bedroom and mattress is hard. On other hand, bedrooms are in back and remain nice and quiet despite lively street scene. We loved our month there, and loved York.
An interesting spacious apartment in an excellent location. We enjoyed the ambiance of the conserved building but with the comfort levels of modern facilities. The location could not have been more convenient for access to the railway station, parking, the river, the walled ramparts and all the city attractions. Meiklegate offers some great restaurants within a few minutes walk and there is a handy supermarket on the doorstep. We appreciated the effective central heating system since we were there during a cold spell. We would certainly stay here again.

EASTER WEEKEND 18
A LOVELY FLAT/HOME IDEALLY LOCATED CLOSE TO EVERYTHING WITHIN THE CITY GREAT PUBS AND PLACES TO EAT ALL CLOSE BY. THE FLAT ITSELF IS LOVELY, CLEAN AND HAS EVERYTHING WITHIN IT REQUIRED TO MAKE YOUR STAY AS RESTFULL AS POSSIBLE. WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM GOING BACK HERE AND WILL RETURN HOPEFULLY WHEN THE YORKSHIRE WEATHER IS BETTER :)
ONE THING WE STRUGGLED WITH THAT MIGHT NEED ATTENTION FROM AGENTS IS THAT FRONT DOOR LOCK APPEARS TO BE ON ITS LAST LEGS AND AT TIMES WAS DIFICULT TO GET INTO THE PROPERTY FROM THE MAIN ROAD.
