This is a lovely English cottage in an extremely beautiful town. The cottage had everything we needed for a wonderful holiday. We are traveling from the USA and started our adventure here. The only issue was WiFi was intermittent, but I think that was the area, not the cottage. Also, I thought there was designated parking.

A superb house right in the centre of. Lovely village. Views of river and bridge and sitting out areas for warmer times of year. Cosy and warm in winter. Tastefully furnished and well equipped. It’s hard to fault it.

We really enjoyed our stay in this warm, cosy comfortable cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay in this warm, cosy comfortable cottage. Ideally situated close to the town centre and local amenities. We enjoyed meals at the Black Swan, the Magpie Cafe in Whitby, the Star at Harome and the Black Swan in Oldstead. A very relaxing week. The only thing missing was the Internet connection but we had excellent phone signals.

What a gorgeous cottage! Bridge House has everything you could possibly want and is ideally situated a short stroll from the centre of Helmsley. The little touches from the welcome goodies to an initial supply of logs etc for the wood burner are most welcome and appreciated.
The parking is not an issue - if you cannot park directly outside of the cottage then you can usually get a space a few 100 yards away.
This has to be one of the best cottages I have ever stayed at - have rebooked for next year!!!

Absolutely delightful cottage, which is great location, cosy and clean. Once understanding that the parking space allocation is necessarily one spot, and can park in any space out front as all council owned, then able to relax. Lovely time had and would return.

The cottage is very well situated and is well equipped. However since our last stay in 2016 we thought the property was in need of some tlc. Particularly the entrance gates that badly needed repair or replacement. However, we had a lovely stay at Bridge House and would go again.

The cottage is very convenient for the local town with good shopping facilities and a small market. The cottage was a little tired looking and the garden slightly overgrown but this did not detract from the comfort. Would recommend a holiday in this lovely part of Yorkshire.

Luxurious cottage with three spaces to sit outside.
Luxurious cottage with three spaces to sit outside. It's really pleasant being that close to the river. You can sit on the kitchen window seat and watch it slowly drift by. Some noise from the nearby road, but not overly intrusive outside, and not noticeable inside.

This is a lovely house with a great finish.
This is a lovely house with a great finish. The location is beautiful and there is plenty to see and do in Helmsley. We heard otters in the river at night but never managed to see them. The only 2 real negatives are the parking (if you drive away and return before 5pm expect to park in another area of town) and the lack of wifi. Neither a major problem but worth noting. If you do lots of walking don't rely on any new tech, stick to old school OS maps. As I say though, this place is lovely and I would stay here again

One big “bug bear” - the parking - no designated parking spot as advertised, it was a free for all and it made you worry about vacating your spot once you were in it. Helmsley is a lovely little town with plenty of amenities. There are lovely walks right from the doorstep, especially the one to Rievaulx. The cottage was clean and warm and plenty of logs were provided for the wood burner, a nice touch. The beds were lovely and comfy. The en-suite shower drain was rather smelly but otherwise all was fine.

We very much enjoyed staying at Bridge House, which is in an ideal location within the village and handy for going further afield - and its riverside setting and garden are great. We would certainly recommend it to others.
It is perhaps a minor matter but the Yorkshire Country Cottages website says there is a private parking space directly in front of the house. The trouble is that there was no physical indication at all that the space is private and, as other reviews have said, anyone who feels like it parks there. There is actually room for a "Private parking" sign in the relevant plant area against the house wall.
