This is a traditional stay, meaning you will sleep on a thin mattress on top of tatami mats on the floor. I’m 40 and it was okay for a couple of nights. I didn’t mind.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Also keep in mind that the showers are shared, no individual stalls.
There are great Cafes and restaurants around
Staff was extremely nice and helpful, they give you a pamphlet on things to do. Bikes on site to rent ,a bar right outside. Air conditioning, and shared bath is nice. In a beautiful area and perfect view of Fuji. A definite recommendation for anyone who wants to see the area of mt. Fuji!
The staff was wonderful to work with. They helped us with our luggage transfer and made us feel like we were a true guest in their home. I can't recommend this enough and the area around Lake Yamanaka is fantastic. I sure hope to return someday.
It was a nice and quite stay. It's in a great location too. We were not used the public restrooms but there was instructions so that made it easier. The staff was very nice and patient with us as we tried to commicate. The breakfast was amazing. Definitely a grat stay.
I booked this place entirely by accident, but I’m so glad I did! Yamanakako is a gorgeous place! Everyone there I met was super nice. The Ryokan itself was amazing in its own right too. Very nice sized room, great amenities. The bath was exquisite. Truly a jem.
The property was ok. Definitely the property is really clean and people are really friendly. The only bad thing is if you have never slept in a futon bed don't go here. Japon demands a lot of walking so the last thing you want to do is go to sleep in a futon bed after walking for like for a while. The rest was good. You can see the mountain from the hotel.
The walls are literally paper thin and someone was partying until 4am so we didn’t sleep. You can hear a door close from the other side of the hotel. Wouldn’t recommend if you like sleeping.
Wonderful hosts and nice accommodations for price!

Note the toilet is not in the room and the bathroom is shared and by that I mean it is a shared bath and showers in a totally public room although men only
Staff is nice , however The tatami bed was quite uncomfortable and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. We also had to set up the bedding ourselves, which was inconvenient.
The room was very cold and there was no proper heating provided, which made the stay less comfortable, especially at night. In addition, the shared toilet and bathroom were not very convenient.
a unique experience for foreigners to sleep in Japanese style. please be aware the shower is shared (men and women area separated) no speration walls between the individual showers,
