The best time to visit Xeniakos, Crete, is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and often better value compared to the peak summer months.

During May and early June, the island is lush and green from the spring rains, and the sea is warm enough for swimming. Temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20-28°C, making it ideal for exploring archaeological sites like the Palace of Knossos or hiking the Samaria Gorge. This period is particularly good for couples who enjoy outdoor activities and exploring without the intense summer heat.

September and early October also provide excellent conditions. The summer crowds have thinned out, but the sea remains warm from the summer sun, great for beach days or boat trips along the coast. The weather is usually sunny with temperatures between 22-29°C. This time of year is especially appealing for those seeking a more relaxed holiday, perhaps enjoying the local cuisine at a taverna in Chania Old Town or exploring the Venetian Harbour at a leisurely pace.

While July and August offer guaranteed sunshine and the warmest sea temperatures, they also bring the largest crowds and higher prices for accommodation and flights.
