"The hotel is in a wonderful location with beautiful views. It's a very special, charming place. The Sunday lunch was the best we have had in a very long time. We absolutely loved our visit and hopefully will return."

"Excellent central location. The staff were helpful especially in reception and spa. The dining staff were efficient but less cheerful than one might expect in an establishment like this. Breakfast was plentiful but uninspiring. Luggage drop off was difficult due to heavy vehicles blocking the hotel entrance. The plumbing made a loud vibrating noise for 10 minutes after each toilet flush. The shower had excellent pressure and hot water. The room mini fridge had the internal light hanging down and the fridge didn’t appear to work. The hotel has old world charm and despite the small foibles mentioned above is a good accommodation option."

"The inn is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and the property is just lovely. There was, however, no room in the bathroom itself for my friend and I to store our toiletries. A small glass shelf above the sink was all that was offered. No room in the shower for anything but a bar of soap. You must know that not everyone can use the shampoo and body soap/lotion you kindly provide. People have skin conditions that require use of specified products. No washcloths were provided. Is this a custom in the UK? In the US, we use washcloths for rinsing and wiping our skin."

"Lovely location on the lake and ideal for our family for playing safely around the house and access to the lake. House was a great size for 6 adults and 3 children and was well equipped. Ideal location for many Lake District activities, restaurants and just relaxing."

"Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Hotel was extremely dog friendly so we decided to have dinner at the hotel and they made a table up in one of the lounges so our dog could be with us, we had the same table for breakfast as well. The food was lovely for both dinner and breakfast. Very peaceful location with added bonus of views of lake Windermere and mountains."

"Very positive: The location for exploring the Lakes was excellent. Convenient bus stops just outside for trips in either direction if public transport preferred at times. Only a short stroll from the lodge to the lake and small marina, which was lovely as was the peaceful woodland walk on site. Lodge was spotless, spacious, comfortable and had everything we wanted, so this is why I have rated it excellent. Not quite so positive: On arrival, when we saw the state of the rotten handrails around the balcony by the front door, and the nearby unsightly overflowing large bins (only emptied and moved away into the actual bin area on Friday) I have to say it did not give a great first impression which was a pity, as once in the lodge we found everything else to be of a high standard, and had a most enjoyable holiday."
