Secluded Area on Upper Kings River @ Chimney Mill Cabin. . . Quiet & Peaceful
Chimney Mill Cabin is located in a secluded and remote area at the upper head of Kings River, high in the beautiful mountains of Madison County. Our cabin is surrounded by a peaceful, quiet setting, that introduces you to the sound of the river and abundance of nature. Sitting on the wrap-around porch, enjoying the quiet tranquility in the natural wilderness area--relatively untouched by man--brings a feeling of peace and contentment and makes one not want to leave.
Chimney Mill Cabin is named for the old grist mill that once stood at Kings River Falls. The cabin will accommodate 8 overnight guests in 2 king beds, 1 queen bed, 1 futon bed, and 2 and 1/2 baths. It features a fully equipped kitchen, large farm table in dining area seats 10, second table seats 4, kitchen island seats 4, electric fireplace, Dish Satellite Service, and wrap-around porch (the south side is screened in). Wrap-around porch has several chairs and tables that allows one to sit and enjoy the wildlife and listen to the river. The cabin is only a few feet from Kings River close to the Buffalo National River Area and many well-known hiking trails. This is the perfect place for hikers to enjoy the popular hiking trails in this area.

Time has changed many things, but not the beauty of the Kings River area. The river still tumbles clear and pure over the rocks. Several smaller waterfalls lead the way to the largest fall known as "Kings River Falls." The old grist mill, known as Chimney Mill, once stood where Kings River Falls is located. Here the water cascades over the rocks into a pool of clear blue-green water. This is an ideal location for those who love to hike and see the "beauty of the wilderness." Kings River Falls area is a hiker's paradise.

Great atmosphere! The view was amazing. The trails around the property were awesome and made for a good hike. The river was beautiful and we really enjoyed swimming under the waterfall!
The cabin was clean and in great shape. Our host thought of everything from places we may want to see, to small fun touches in the cabin. It was so nice to unplug and be together as a family!
This is a place we have been able to visit for several years now and it’s a trip we always look forward to. Peaceful, tranquil, and wonderful place to spend some time with family and relax.
Another fantastic stay at one of our favorite places to visit. Hiking on trail, visiting the waterfall and enjoying the peace and quiet, we can’t wait to return again.
The cabin was fantastic alone, but the location to Kings River Falls felt like a private natural location! Wildlife fantastic, dark starry night sky amazing and the property had historic landmarks left by original settlers!
Such an incredible stay - the pictures don’t do this cabin justice. It’s so comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. We had a great time and actually got engaged there this past weekend!
This property is Amazing!! Beautiful, super clean, and the owners have thought of every little thing u might need for your stay. The Kings River Falls is an easy hike/trail, the falls and pool below are gorgeous!! Can’t wait to go back for another cousins reunion
Absolutely lovely cabin and location with a rich history and obviously lots of love put into it. Very gracious hosts. Very nice amenities. Nice hiking trail with a waterfall that can be reached walking from the cabin. Can easily see the stars at night. Great getaway from civilization. Highly recommended!!
Perfect timing for fall colors. So secluded, it offered a perfect opportunity to work on my writing without disruption. This was my third time at the cabin and I hope there will be more.
Peaceful and Secluded Getaway without Sacrificing Comfort
This place is my favorite to unwind and relax from the stresses of life. You can just feel the stress leave as you sit on the porch with a cup of coffee and listen to the sounds of the water. The wildlife love to put on a show as well!
Beautiful views in every direction. Great hiking and swimming. No cell coverage or internet (a huge plus!). Daily sightings of musk rats, rabbits and deer. Choruses of birds and tapestries of clouds. The cabin is relaxing and roomy even for my family of 8. The dining room table is just the best.
We had a wonderful 3rd stay at this beautiful property. Hiking down the river with the cooler weather was very enjoyable. And spotting the local animal life from the beautiful porch with no interruptions from work/email was just what we needed. Already planning for our next adventure here. Everything was perfect, the cabin gorgeous with everything we needed and the property very well kept. Thank you for checking on us and being available if we should need anything, but especially sharing your amazing cabin with us.
This property is one of my favorites because we got married here but also because there isn’t any cell signal or WiFi here. Being disconnected from technology helps to focus on being present and connecting with the people you’re with! I also love how close it is to hiking and water. This was our third trip and we will definitely be back!
We absolutely loved our stay and will be back. The screened in porch was the perfect spot to cozy up with a blanket and read a book. We brought corn hole tables and played on the side porch with ease. The kids loved playing in the stream and making s'mores in the camp fire. We were prepared for no cell service at the cabin, enjoyed it, but be prepared for no cell service on the way out to the cabin as well. The beds were comfortable, the cabin was clean and spacious, you're able to use the washer and dryer and they have a charcoal grill available to use as well. There's nothing bad to say about this place, we were sad to leave.
Although we were staying there to be near family in the area... this property all by itself a perfect remote getaway in the mountains.
We only wish there were some kind of basic Internet/wifi because there is no cell service up there. Some could see lack of connection access a plus though.
A landline phone is provided which does solve some of this.
My husband and I hadn’t taken a trip alone in a couple of years, so we were ready for a peaceful respite.
Chimney Mill Cabin was in a remote area and perfect for a long weekend getaway. It was very clean and comfortable with lots of space. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and the bathrooms were stocked with plenty of towels.
We really enjoyed exploring outdoors and hiking to King River Falls. The view and the waterfall were so beautiful.
We drove to Huntsville a couple of times, which is about 30 minutes away, to dine out and fill up with gas. Granny’s Kitchen has the best Southwest omelet I have ever tasted.
Our favorite place to be during our visit was relaxing on the porch having coffee while watching the deer grazing and the red squirrels scurrying about in the yard.
The only complaint we have is that we didn’t book it for a longer stay. We definitely want to return in the Spring. Thank you for a wonderful visit!
The host, Joan was so accommodating. Every little detail was so thought out! We will definitely be back! Perfect getaway for making memories with friends and family!!
This was our second time at the Chimney Mill Cabin. The beautify of the property is unmatched, great place for a weekend getaway. We will be booking our next stay soon!
We have been coming here every year for many years and it is always a trip we look forward to. Peace, calm, and beauty surround you in this wonderful place and we can't wait to come back again soon.
