Furnished house located in Scotia Heights, 5 km. or 15 min of ride from/to Downtown. Safe and beautiful neighborhood shaded by big trees. Access from street or back lane. Parking for three cars. Quiet and friendly neighbors. Grocery shopping within walking distance (2 city blocks, 1 large grocery store and 1 retail store, 7/11, Pharmacy). Bicycle scenic path to two city parks with outdoor public swimming pool and to Downtown, (15-20 min ride) .
Inside: recently renovated from ceiling to floors. Laundry on the first floor. Kitchen has everything to have breakfast and cook dinner on fairly new appliances. AC on both floors. Bedding and towels provided for up to 10 people. 4 bedrooms on second floor. Leather and cloth couches in living room. Beds: 1 queen, 1 double, 3 twins, 1 futon, 1 cot, 1sngl air mattress of bed hight.
Hot water is hot enough. Plumbing updated: no rusty water, drains well. Free Wi-Fi. Additional items available upon request.
Family's humble short hair cat Gopher lives in the basement, has own amenities and separate entrance outside for guarding walks. His access to rental space controlled by basement door. He attends vet regularly and gets fur maintenance bi-weekly. Cats lovers can enjoy his company (he loves people), others can keep door shut with notification to owner.

Charming Turn of the Century Home

My second time here while visiting family in my hometown. We came in early May to unpresedented 3 day heatwave. My husband loved the house and the AC was adequte.cenwereadequate.

Quiet Refuge

We found the house warm with the fireplace. All the mirrors made the spaces seem even bigger, and the style of the marbled and mirrored bathroom was so nice! I loved the cabin-like room upstairs with the windows all around and the wooden ceiling and walls.

We loved our stay at this property. The home was clean and well maintained as well as beautiful. The location made it easy to travel around the city. Both our host and resident cat were very welcoming. It would be at the top of our list if/when we book another trip to the city.

Cool house!

Great house with lots of charm in a good section of town. Stayed this past weekend and there was extreme cold warnings, but the house was warm and cozy with the fireplace. One side note: if you are allergic to cats, this is not a place for you. Gopher the cat, is cute and likes people and has free roam of the house. When I read reviews I thought it was just an outside cat.

Gorgeous Heritage Home

I stayed for a couple of weeks and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bed was comfortable and the the house was warm for the season. I will return if I'm able. My little dog needed to be carried up and down the stairs but that was a minor concern since he only weighs 11 pounds.

Great place & location!

Loved the home & Gopher the cat. The location of this home was perfect for enjoying the city, many places close by but also easy to navigate to those further away. So glad the owner kept much of the original aspects of this older home. Was a joyous stay! Would stay again.

Beautiful Historic Home

It was gorgeous from the moment you stepped up to the gate. Communication with the Owner was very easy. Tony attended to a problem with the TV the very day it occurred. The bed was comfortable (I only slept in the Master room). Having the cupboards stocked with so many dry goods and spices was very helpful.

Character home

Our stay was very pleasant. The house is older, but roomy and comfortable. There is a friendly cat on the property and he has a cat door so you may catch a glimpse. The kitchen was stocked adequately with utensils, plates, etc. There is a very nice outdoor deck to relax on.

Home away from home

This is, by far, the most charming and comfortable home we have ever stayed in. The host, Tony, is exceptionally accommodating and friendly. And we LOVE the resident cat, Gopher! Nice old house!

Fun to stay at a place that had atmosphere and that was not a cookie cutter type house. The place was nice and cute worked great for our girls weekend. Our only complaint was that we were not informed of the cat. They have an outdoor cat on the property that really wants to be inside, and depending on the guests wishes, is allowed in the house. Due to our cat allergies this made us nervous. We did see cat hair on some of the living room furniture. That was mitigated and we were able to enjoy our stay with out sneezing and eye watering.

Fantastic

Just want to say that this property was fantastic!! Tony was great and accommodating to all our questions and needs!! It was such a pleasure to stay in your own place with family. Very relaxing, clean and Gopher the cat was great. He is so socialized that if you want him he comes and cuddles. But you also have the option to lock the cat door so he would stay in the basement. The home came equipped with what you would need or forgotten at home. Appliances are up to date. Want to come back in warmer weather when we can enjoy a bbq and the outside. Thanks again Tony and Gopher. Hope to see you again soon.

Beautiful character home

This was our first experience with VRBO. The house is beautiful and roomy. There are a few things that would have made this stay better; the beds and bedding could be drastically improved. The mattresses, pillows, and bedding should be more like hotel quality. We all come from a hotel hospitality background and realize the importance of a good nights sleep. The blankets varied from wool to sleeping blanket style. The towels provided were few (for 5 females) and not matching. The grass was not mowed but Tony did trim the entrance hedges at our request. I would like to suggest that no perfume fragrance be used as that was overpowering upon our entrance. We had to open doors and windows to air the house out. The back deck was well used and enjoyed. We chose this home due to the close proximity to my sisters home. We do travel to Winnipeg often and would consider this home again if the beds etc were improved. Gopher the house cat is a sweetheart and we enjoyed his company. The price was reasonable.

Feels like home!

Tony is an outstanding host. House has a ton of space and is absolutely a gorgeous character home. Having access to a BBQ, dishwasher, and laundry was huge for us. We were traveling with an infant and it was a big bonus to have access to a playpen too. Gopher is the absolute best, he’s so friendly and chatty but also will stay out of your way - it felt so good to have a friendly cat around as we were missing our own. Some considerations if you’re thinking about visiting this property… If you’ve never been to this part of Winnipeg before - the neighbourhood is gorgeous, safe and friendly but to get to the property you may have to go down a rougher part of Main. We didn’t bring outlet covers with us - those traveling with young children may wish to do so. There were some toys around and colouring pages too! You’re staying in a home - we didn’t expect to have so many amazing things waiting for us and we were so grateful. Some spices, pots pans and plates, BBQ utensils, etc. Lots of towels and linens for our crew of 5 (4 adults, 1 infant). Don’t expect hotel quality as you’re staying in a home :) we appreciated it all. Had a great lived in, welcoming feel - like visiting at a relatives home. The AC was awesome and kept us cool in 40c weather - it’s not central AC but sure felt like it once all were on! Backyard is cute and cozy - lots of patio furniture to lounge! We will be suggesting Tony’s place to all of our friends and family. We’d absolutely stay here again.

A cozy home away from home

We had a great stay while in Winnipeg for a sports tournament. It as a cozy house and Tony was quick to answer any questions we had. My daughter fell in love with Gopher the cat!
