Thank you for taking the time to visit our home away from home! A lovingly customized and highly outfitted extra large Penthouse in arguably the best ski-in ski-out property in Whistler. The Aspens!

Our penthouse is the largest 1-bedroom in The Aspens and over the past 10 years of ownership we have very much enjoyed taking this generous space and transforming it into a unique and highly customized top floor modern chalet. Throughout the many renovations/improvements we have always been driven by a few very basic tenets: High Quality, High Cleanliness, High Comfort, and Exceptionally well equipped. And without compromise.

While the upgrading and constant refining projects have been hugely satisfying, the best reward(s) by far have been all these fantastic near flawless reviews from very satisfied guests from around the world. ☺️ 😊 😊 Thank you past guests!! Over 200 perfect reviews later and holding at "10" means we are managing to keep that bar we set, -very high.  for guests yet to come... Thank you also to our partners at Expedia/VRBO for recognizing our "XL Luxury Penthouse" in July 2026 with the new "top 1%" honour!! We aim to keep deserving that honour for years to come and welcome many new guests looking for exceptional accommodations and truly memorable stays. 

We take the word “luxury” very seriously.  We also believe strongly that guest reviews are the best source of information as guests are unbiased and unfiltered.  We are totally fine with that!! 😃 212 at "10" and counting with a total of zero of them mentioning being under-impressed or otherwise objecting to the description of our unit after experiencing it firsthand.

PENTHOUSE TOP 10:

1. THE SPACE. Nearly 20% larger in floor space than nearly all other 1-bedrooms PLUS the 15’ cathedral ceiling makes the living room feel so much larger and comfortable. It is the largest in the Aspens. Also, with 2 balconies. The extra space is in the living room and bedroom exactly as it should be. (so much so that our living room and bedroom are both larger than all of the other 1-bedrooms but the majority of the 2-bedrooms as well –(in order to design the 2-bedrooms there is no room to expand living room or bedrooms. Not the case with our penthouse) standard 1bdrm=576sq ft. 2bdrm=785sq ft. Our Penthouse 700sq. ft plus high ceiling).

2. OWNER MANAGED. Available 24/7.  (I’m also an enthusiastic on-call e-concierge before and during your stay!). 😊

3a. THE KING BED. It figures prominently throughout our reviews!!  It is a 16” memory foam with pillow top medium firmness high quality mattress. There is no compromise, and sleep tops the list.  It is also protected with mattress protector, mattress cover and wrapped with the same high-quality sheets, duvets, pillows and linens as found in the highest rated. So many outstanding comments on this bed.
3b. SOFA BEDS. In keeping with quality throughout we have added made to order Stylus hardwood frame Canadian made sofa beds. To them we added the highest quality memory foam mattresses. All highly worth the extra investment.

4. BEDROOM. Larger than nearly all other units including the 2-bedroom units. Room enough for an extra leather recliner and work desk. PLUS balcony.

5. A/C. Air Conditioning. 17,000btu split ducted system. Plenty of cooling capacity for the large space.

6. ENTERTAINMENT!!  AUDIO/VISUAL/GAMES. 2 SMART TVs. 55” in the living room + 42” in the bedroom. Wii with over 20 games.  DVD player with 100+ classic movies..  Monopoly, Risk, cards, and other board games. 300Mbps internet. WiFi    Gamers and streamers fear not!

7. GEARDRYER. We thought it would be a great addition but has turned into a HUGE hit!! Skiers/boarders and bikers all LOVE that thing! (Created in Utah BY outdoor enthusiasts FOR outdoor enthusiasts!)

8. KITCHEN. Extremely well-equipped kitchen including all clad and stainless pots, pans, baking trays, quality chef’s knife set, Keurig coffee maker, KitchenAid appliances.  Blender, waffle maker, tea pot, martini set etc etc... All necessary bowls, kitchen and BBQ utensils of all sorts needed to make and serve great meals. P.S. Read the reviews. 😉

9. HEATED TILE FLOORS. Kitchen and bathroom are tiled and both are heated. Plenty of thankful comments in the reviews…!

10. BBQ. A high-quality all-stainless Jackson Grill. Very well built with exceptional heat. It is the best bbq we have ever owned. From grilled vegetables to Florentine steak. Trust this grill with anything!

11. (ok make it top 14?!).  LIVING ROOM SIZE, -SEATING. Very comfortably seat 5 adults. The penthouse’s larger square footage is put to great use in the living room which allows for 2 sofas and an additional leather recliner which the majority of other units cannot accommodate.

12. THERMOSTATIC SHOWER SYSTEM. Set the temp and have an easy stay! And deep full size soaker tub. Great for families with young children. Another valuable investment in functional comfort and quality.

13. THE ART. Giclee prints by our favorite local artist Andy Anissimoff of Squamish. "Run", "Blueberry to Blackcomb" and "The Black Tusk".  Also a beautiful original wooden sculpture "The Skier" by Alan Boileau which we purchased with the condo because it looks and feels so at home here! 

14. CUSTOM MAPLE HIGHLIGHTS/FURNITURE. Cue a lifelong love of wood especially maple, and with help from our 4th generation family kitchen and bath company the space has come alive with classic solid maple accents throughout the penthouse. A mix of thick solid big leaf western maple with some spalted, ambrosia and burled pieces complimenting eastern Canada non-select cabinets with their beautiful mineral streaks. Each piece has been handcrafted and finished. BIG shout out to Dowdal Cabinets of North Bay, Ontario!!

14. (yikes! ☺️) ALL LIGHTS throughout the penthouse have been converted to dimmable. (even the stove light has 2 settings! 😂).

2022.
-2 highest quality “Stylus” brand sofa beds with upgraded optional $$ memory foam mattresses because we don’t expect them to only be used by the kids…. And because “luxury” demands more than just the basics! They also have mattress protectors; mattress covers and comfy duvets. Same treatment as the king bed.
-new smart TVs and sound system, the start of the 2-3” solid maple live edge accenting…

2023:
-bathroom renovation. Floor to ceiling tiles, heated floor, thermostatic shower system, new fixtures.

2024:
-paint top to bottom, new carpeting, replaced the entry closet with the gear area and installation of a GearDryer (one of the best ideas of all the improvements!)

2025:
-kitchen renovation and matching custom cabinets for the bedroom.

2026: NEW!:-king bed upgrade to solid maple. 

SKI-IN SKI-OUT. -SHARING….
Unfortunately some property managers and hotels are very liberal with the use of the term "ski-in ski-out".  It is truly unfortunate there is no ski-in ski-out vetting on booking sites …. In short at The Aspens you get the real thing! Put your skis or boards on a mere 10 meters past the hot tubs and through our secure slopeside gate which puts you a very gently 75 meters uphill from the 10 person Blackcomb Gondola. Ski in ski out convenience comes at a premium and therefore a word of caution to  investigate closely the claims of the properties you are considering. The Aspens is simply the gold standard in Whistler and that is a well earned distinction.
"THE ASPENS BUILDING DETAILS/AMENITIES":

-FREE Ski valet. 07:30-18:00 daily during ski season

-24/7 front desk. They also sell basic groceries such as milk, cereal, muffins, coffee, cream, frozen pizza and ice cream, pasta, sauce, toiletries and a host of other items.

-Pool towels. At front desk.

-Pool. One of the largest in Whistler and West facing means full sun all day long. Surrounding the pool in summer are large cantilevered umbrellas, lounge and sitting chairs. Pool is kept at a comfortable temperature year round.

-3 hot tubs, all of which are less than 20 steps to the ski run. You can quite literally talk to skiers and boarders from sitting in the hot tub.

-Bike storage room. Gated and video monitored. A code will be provided for access.

-LOCATION! LOCATION!, LOCATION!!  
-property and unit have elevator access Ski to our slopeside gate, leave your skis at the valet and head up to your spacious penthouse in a total of 3 minutes... (You cannot beat that time at the Fairmont next door nor at the Four Seasons behind them ;) nor many many other properties ). Upper Village shops and restaurants, the gondola, guest services, Merlin's!!, -all a few minutes walk. Or a 5 second ski.

In closing it is easy for owners to overstate their space but if they do they will not maintain such high ratings over such a long period of time.  We prefer to encourage all prospective guests to read our fantastic reviews.
