"My partner and I stayed at this beautiful family-owned hotel. We were impressed by the beautiful views from the balcony of our apartment and by the hotel itself. The apartment consisted of a large bedroom, living room / kitchen and bathroom with a balcony overlooking an inlet of the sea. As a family-owned hotel, it was lovely to meet them all and to be treated with such welcoming kindness. In the evenings, we were often somewhere on the island but if we were at the hotel, they shared their family evening meal, which was always delicious. We felt like we were at home. The rooms were cleaned daily except Sundays and were immaculate. "

Mehrfach wurde das Haus gereinigt und immer stand danach eine Überraschung auf dem Tisch, selbst gemacht! Grandios und äußerst schmackhaft. Ein Auto ist aufgrund der Lage unabdingbar. "This was a fantastic stay and the listing couldn't be more accurate. We stayed for 8 nights and it was our first holiday with our 5 month old baby.Kathie and Chris are great hosts. They really made us feel at home and went through everything with us when we arrived which put us at ease for the week and made us fully familiar with how to live comfortably during our stay.The views are stunning. The sunrises in particular were breathtaking given the apartment sits on an eastern facing hill. Kathie and Chris have done an incredible job with the design of the space as well.The pool - this was the standout for us. We were keen to still stay somewhere that enabled us to explore the west side of the island but the private pool was a huge plus point as we were keen to get our 5 month old into it and have the privacy and peace to do so at our own pace (without lots of kids splashing around or similar at hotel pools). Don't be put off by the pool being salt water - this isn't remotely as explicit as it sounds. It's a process of chlorinating the water and isn't remotely what you would guess a salt water pool would be like - do not let the naive understanding of salt water pools put you off - its better than a regular pool.Overall an unforgettable stay, which is lovely as we will cherish our first ever family holiday being somewhere as amazing as this.Do not hesitate if you are considering booking this apartment!! "Property is set in beautiful gardens which are maintained daily.Rob, Rachel and Winnie are fantastic hosts they make you feel very welcome from when you step into their hidden paradise. Pool is excellent- good amount of sun beds.We are very fit and we could walk to local shop and bus stops, ideal local beach 1.5 miles away, however a car would be required if physically impaired.The property is ‘rustic’ not a recent build and I feel it is difficult for family to maintain, however we were not disappointed. All amenities within in good working order, dishes cups and glasses plentiful we did cook a number of times without any difficulty.It’s rural location results in lot of dog barking at night, ear plugs good option. The family dogs and cats are adorable.Would highly recommend a stay at Crete Retreat when visiting Chania as it is a busy harbour area and it’s a pleasure to escape the hustle and bustle with a 2 euro bus ride back to the countryside."

"The property itself was good but the big shock was having a derelict building site eye sore immediately next to the property. This has obviously been like this for some time given the state of things on the building site, and your photos and information did not mention this. The kitchen was also very lacking in equipment, even down to no trays for the oven, only a single rack to use and only 4 mugs, etc. We were very disappointed in this and look forward to your response "

"This is an excellent base, to explore Chania and the western part of Crete. It was so peaceful. The house is wonderful, with great spaces inside and out to congregate. But, it was also easy to have some privacy."

"We had a lovely stay at this apartment, the cool winds being up a mountain helped keep the hot weather bearable. The checkin was different but worked for us. There was two parking spaces which was handy for us as we hired two cars.The rooms are spacious and clean. The kitchen is well fitted out with most items required to have a family holiday. All the bedrooms are fitted with aircon systems. The Wifi is very poor, we could not get any reception in the bedrooms snd had to purchase sim cards to get any form of wifi as we were still working whilst on holiday and needed Wifi. I believe there is only one router between three villas which is probably the issue. The toilet seats are loose and missing the securing nuts whis is pretty dangerous should someone slip off and hit their head. The two showers are very average, one shower is missing the sliding door and the hose doesnt fix into its bracked firmly so moves around. The second shower is in the bath and sprays towards the opposite wall which then poors onto the bath then onto the floor. Easy solution is to fit a shower curtain. But in general the villa is very nice and the views are pretty nice. Despite the few issues we had a very enjoyable stay. Oh and you will probably need a sat nav to find the villa the first time you drive there, its up a very windy road. Try the taverners 1.4km down the hill, they are very good. "
