Quick Island Tour
Property was perfect for our adult family of 5. We were able to make day trips to the National Park, and other national monument sites (drove the whole island) skirting the rain best we could. Property was gorgeous, comfortable, and spacious. Loved the ammenities and the views.

Our Hawai’i Trip
We had a wonderful stay at this home. It was well appointed and clean. A nice quiet neighborhood and in very close proximity to Volcano National Park. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a stay in this area of the island.

Nice location close to Hawai’i Volcanoes NP
The house has a ton of space compared to other options and was quite private (the Dancing Bamboo Cottage was not occupied during our stay). We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! The property description is spot on regarding grocery options—be sure to stock up in Hilo or Kona if you want to cook meals since the two stores in Volcano only have the very basics and prices are much higher than in town.

Hidden gem
The first thing out of our daughter’s mouth when we got here was “why didn’t we stay here the whole time”. (We split our vacation between Hilo and Kona). The entire family agreed. Pictures don’t do this place justice. It was perfect. For sure want to come back!!

Awesome, unique
Beautiful cottage in the rainforest near HVNP. As advertised. Very responsive contact person. This is a unique setting, and beautifully decorated. Great location for visiting the volcanoes park. Comfy beds. Space heaters and blankets appreciated. They do only provide a couple detergent pods for dishwasher and laundry. Stock up on groceries in Hilo first. We enjoyed seeing wild pigs and birds out back.

Lovely house on the rain forest.
A nicely decorated house surrounded by nature. Very convenient to the national park. We especially enjoyed playing games on the lanai with the grandkids while listening to all the birds.

Perfect!
This house was perfect for our family! It was super close to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, and had all the amenities our family needed (washer/dryer, dishwasher, cooking needs). My husband enjoyed coffee walks, all three of my teens had a bed, we had a family movie night with The Princess Bride, and it was a joy to eat on the lanai. Mahalo for sharing your delightful house with us!

Spacious comfortable hideaway in the forest
Large, airy, beautifully decorated home in the forest, quiet and private. The home is comfortable and well stocked. Great birdsong. Kitchen equipped well for easy meal preparation. Very pleasant outdoor space at the home. Easy access to Volcanoes National Park with amazing hiking and unique sights. It's great to stay so close by and take advantage of the park at non-peak hours. I would highly recommend this home to friends, and hope to return myself.

Pretty Nice Stay in Volcano
The house is very spacious and we had no trouble with a party of six. It is minutes from the national park and tucked away in a quiet part of the island. We loved hearing the gecko choir at night! My kids also appreciated the provided board games. There are a few things that could be fixed to make it a 5-star experience. First and most importantly, there is a door in the master bedroom that has a full length window on it. There is no curtain at all. (There is one pictured on the listing but none when we were in person). There is a second cottage on the property and they could look directly into your bed if they wanted. Actually, there were not many curtains/blinds at all and because of how dark it is at night in this location we felt like we were basically in a fish bowl. The lanai isn’t as welcoming as it looks in the photos. The furniture is worn and could use a good wash. The pictured curtains are ripped and paint stained. While the walkways and driveway are beautifully landscaped, the backyard is completely overgrown and unusable. (The long grass may be for eco reasons - it would have been nice to have a heads up) We were happy to have wifi, full kitchen and laundry in the house.

Great stay near National Park
The place was really nice, and spacious as shown in the photos. There were a couple issues though which didn't get resolved even after multiple discussions with the property manager including the front door lock not working, back door lock being stuck and wifi not working. The property manager tried to work around the issue but communication on how that happened could have made the stay better. Overall property is great if you don't run into these issues.

Hi Harsh Mahalo for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit. Our team was at the house a couple of hours before your check-in time and we did not encounter any problems. We very much care about things working properly which is why we inspect prior to guest arrival. After you reported trouble with the electronic keypad, your on-island contact provided instructions to use the lockbox at the side door (all of our homes have an emergency backup if there's problems with an electronic lock). You said this key was not working. Your on-island contact clarified that this key operates the side door, next to where the lockbox is located and you were able to gain entry. The next day, our handyman went to the house at 1pm on Sunday, 9/3. He could not enter the house or test the lock because they key was not returned to the lockbox. He was able to access the wifi from outside (we emailed you the screenshot). After your departure you did not leave the keys but we were able to charge the electronic lock and enter the house through the front door. The keys were not inside. We had another guest arrival in a few hours so we had to purchase and install a new lock on the side door. We had emailed you to ask how we could have helped make the communication process smoother for you, but we received no reply. Beautiful house
Dancing Ferns was the perfect rainforest retreat for our trip to Volcano. It was very comfortable for our group of 6. The house is only 10-15 mins from Volcano National Park and close to Volcano village but is quiet and secluded. We look forward to booking this house again in the future.

A home away from home
We cannot recommend this property enough and would definitely come again and stay for a week! The house is surrounded by the rain forest and it is just 5 minutes away from the national park. Awesome! We felt great coming home from exploring and then relaxed in the livingroom. Enjoy your stay!

Wonderful secluded space to unwind
The property location is great if you want a base of operation to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as ot os a very short 5-10 minute drive to the park. The property was clean and very nice and updated. The furnishings were great and the cool breezes theough the house kept us nice and cool in the evening. Quiet Home Base
Dancing Ferns was a great place to stay if you want a quiet place to recharge with your family that is minutes from Volcanoes National Park and an easy drive to Hilo or Maunakea Visitor Station. We were greeted by some nice wild pigs when we arrived and heard the rainforest frogs at night and roosters in the distance during the day. No tourists or traffic to worry about. The town of Volcano is a 5 minute drive for supplies if needed. Was great to be so close to the park for two days of hiking. Easy flying in and out of Hilo too.

Middle location access East side easily
A cool home base in the rainforest to be able to explore everything at the National Volcano Park and do-able drive to Hilo for more adventures. We even did Mauna Kea one night for sunset and stargazing. Secluded and quiet it was a great place for our family to start our vacation.

Multi generational get away
What a beautiful home! Came down from Kona to spend a couple of nights with 80 year old grandpa, teen kids and mom and dad. Perfect accommodations for everyone. Close to Volcanoes NP for day and night trips to the park. The house has a beautiful setting and interior. Nice big table for games and dining. Beds were comfy and lots of extra blankets and heaters for the cool evenings. Thanks for a beautiful couple of days!

Big Island Getaway
Our family of 6 stayed here during a trip to the Big Island. The decor was very nice and we had plenty of amenities. It had a lovely outdoor lanai for relaxing in. It was very close to Volcano National Park and was very easy to get to the park from the house. We would stay there again.

Nice location for Volcanoes Visit
A nice remote setting located within 10 minutes of the National park. A nice spacious home to enjoy. It was a little cool during our stay (no house heating system), but we made good use of the space heaters to keep us comfortable.

Easy Access to the National Park in a Wonderful Setting
We got to explore more of the National Park because we were just minutes away. The open floor plan worked great for our visit, four adults. There are bedrooms/bathroom combos on different sides of the house, providing personal space for each couple. The main areas are comfortable, nicely decorated, and everything is well explained in the on-site book. The house is located next to the rain forest and the plants are amazing. Contact to the property managers through email and text were prompt and informative. Wifi worked great. Plenty of space in the parking area. Everything was just as advertised and Dancing Ferns was just what we needed to enjoy our holiday in Hawaii.

Tremendous place to base our VNP explorations!
Great house, and wonderfully equipped! The huge covered porch was the focal point (other than the kitchen). Every time my foody friend looked for a cooking utensil, there it was! My friend's wife appreciated the portable heaters, and the towel warmer! The rest of us New Englanders thought the weather was perfect. This makes for a great place for a group to base their visit to Volcanos National Park.

We enjoyed our stay. First time staying in a rainfall area. The house was really nice and very well decorated. Very quiet, flowers were beautiful, and the area was close to some of the sites we wanted to see. However, the local roads were terrible.

Beautiful location and house, needs better maintenance cleaning
This house is lovely and beautifully decorated. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is for cleanliness. In the room with the twin beds, there was a LOT of dust, which affected my son's allergies. Also, the filters in the air purifiers were dirty and needed to be replaced.

Privacy in a beautiful and comfortable home
It's a beautiful place to stay. We at dinner on the lanai, and enjoyed our breakfasts inside during the cooler mornings. We didn't have far to drive to get to Volcano National Park to see the lava flow and listen to the crackling at 4:00a.m. The house was spacious and wonderfully decorated. We really enjoyed our stay there. We cook our meals and dine in, and found the kitchen to be well supplied, except for coffee cups or mugs. There were four. We are a party of five, and the house was advertised as spacious enough for even more. I hope they supply more for the next renters. We were thrilled to see the lemons growing, the variety of birds, and as we were driving home one evening, we even got to see one of the wild pigs they had mentioned.

Some mugs must have been broken recently and maybe the guests were worried about extra charges so they didn't report it. However, we charge a small damage protection fee on every booking that covers guests for up to $1000 in accidental damages. If something stains or breaks guests can feel rest assured that we will FIX IT with no additional cost to them :-) We're so glad you enjoyed your visit and got to witness Pele's show. Prime location, unique destination
We stayed two nights here and loved it! The house is beautiful and spacious, and we loved the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, but being so close to Volcanoes National Park. Everything in the house was perfect, and the hosts were very responsive. Would love to stay here again.

Came for a staycation from Oahu
I’ve stayed in several places on Big Island. This home by far is both comfortable and aesthetically appealing. The layout was well thought out. The property manager was a phone call/ text away for any (and there were none) issues. I recommend this home with a 5 Star rating. Enjoy!!!

Very Spacious
Stayed here with my family as we wanted to be close enough to the National Park to visit a few times and see the lava flows on multiple nights. The house was lovely and beds were comfortable. It can be a little chilly in the mornings as there's no heat, but the space heaters and plush blankets do the trick. The kitchen is well-equipped but there are no essentials like cooking oils, salt, pepper, etc., though there are a couple of convenient grocery stores nearby. I would definitely recommend staying here to others and would do so again.

Peaceful Retreat

Volcano Glow
We traveled down from Waimea as we are residents on island to see the evening glow from the active lava flow. The property management team did a great job making us aware of the check in process and following up to make sure we arrived safely. The house is beautiful and very elegantly furnished. We really had a nice time lounging in the evenings watching movies and eating breakfast around the outdoor farmhouse table in the morning. Definitely will return to this wonderful house!
