Rustic River Cabin under the Oaks and just a short walk to the river.
Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the Texas Hill Country, while relaxing in the cool waters of the Dry Frio River. This cabin is nestled under a canopy of live oak trees and just a short walk to the river. The Dry Frio River gets its name from the fact that the spring fed river meanders under the rocks at times, giving the appearance of a dry creek bed. This means the water is always cold, even in the hot summer months! The air conditioned cabin has a simple, rustic feeling. The family room has high ceilings with comfy leather sofa and loveseat. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of cookware. The cozy master bedroom has a stone fireplace and a queen-size bed, with room for a portable crib if needed. The spacious bathroom has a lovely clawfoot bathtub/shower. There is loft area with two full-size beds and a beautiful view of the huge live oak trees. Outside there is ample seating on the covered porch and around the fire-pit. A charcoal grill is available for those outdoor cook-outs. Just down the road, a short walk, is a community park area with a covered pavilion and outdoor activities. Wi-Fi is also available at the park area. This is a great place for star gazing, hiking, fishing, swimming, nature watching, unwinding and making memories.
***This is the Texas Hill Country, complete with all the critters, big and small. Please bring appropriate protection, (bug spray, water shoes, hats, sunscreen, etc) to ensure you have a safe trip. Remember to respect the land, water, animals, and the people who reside here, but most of all enjoy the simple peace and quiet it has to offer.

It was a bit dusty and there was a mouse around the kitchen area but the location is great the river is right behind it the little park is great too for the little ones
Overall peaceful and relaxing, had the basic's with the only observation that lacked were instructions on what to do with the trash that was collected during the stay.
It’s an older cabin with a cozy feel. It was very secluded as the other 3 cabins next to it didn’t have anyone staying there. The dry Frio was dry but there was a nice watering hole right behind the cabin.
Lovely rural location for visiting Garner and Lost Maples Parks. Cabin is simple but fully supplied. Park-like setting with plenty of places to walk. Short walk to the neighborhood pavlion to use wifi.
I really loved this place. Had the feeling I was wanting. A great getaway and beautiful country feeling. The home was very organized, clean and had everything we needed.
Thank you

As a family we were seeking seclusion with some access to nearby water recreation, and this property delivered. Owners rightly advertise it as rustic, so there was evidence of that: A dead scorpion on a bathroom shelf overlooked by housekeeping before our arrival, a lack of any hot water for dishwashing (thankfully there was a kettle for boiling water). There was, however, plenty of hot water and great water pressure in the bathroom for showers. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked in terms of cookware serving dishes. Overall it was a really great place to be.

Vacation stay
Pictures showed river flowing within walking distance. No water within 30 miles for kids to swim. Paid $60.00 for kids to swim for the day. The cabin was nice. Kids loved the deer. Would of been nice to be given notice prior to arrival to get money back. Kind of misleading.
This little cabin is quaint, Cozy and off the beaten path. With it being off the beaten path, it is probably super important for you to know if there’s no cell service. They do have Wi-Fi, but receiving calls is a no go. Which, makes it for a nice relaxing getaway. Truly a place to unplug. The river water was low, but the deer and wildlife make up for it. The AC work great both upstairs and downstairs. We did encounter a scorpion, but it is a country cabin. The property owner, K, is extremely responsive to communication and more than happy to help. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again.

Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
We’ve stayed at this ranch before and loved it so we returned and used a different property. Unfortunately we were not as happy, however, here are some of our pros and cons.
Pros: beautiful location and surroundings, right next to the river (if it’s flowing) but Garner State Park is not too far and that was awesome! AC cools properly and you have enough space to stretch out and relax. Saw lots of wildlife around and on the drives in and out. Beds fairly comfortable. Living area spacious. Grill and outside area nice and on backside of house for when the heat is greatest and blocks the sun!
Cons: a bit dirty in some spaces, trash was left from cleaning lady forgetting new AC box, water heater didn’t work the whole time, kitchen is a bit old but mostly functional, steps to lift were odd so be careful. The bathtub didn’t drain well due to the floor underneath so that was a concern for cleanliness. Communications with host was tricky due to no cell service and limited WiFi.
Because of the state park we had a reasonably wonderful time. This was my experience and the host did communicate after we left to compensate and resolve some issues. My suggestion is know as much going in to reservations before booking.
We were looking for a quick getaway to rest and disconnect, and this place delivered. We will definitely stay again and recommend it to family and friends. A good place to recharge and reset.
Wife and I had a great time at the Rustic River Cabin. It's private, remote and perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Although there is Wifi at the pavillion, be prepared to disconnect from it all.
