The best area to stay in Untertauern is either directly in the village centre or slightly outside, closer to the ski lifts and hiking trails.

The village centre is a compact area, primarily along the Tauernstraße, with a selection of guesthouses, hotels, and a few local shops and restaurants. It's the hub for local amenities and offers a traditional Austrian mountain village experience. For those who appreciate having everything within walking distance, this is a very convenient choice.

Families often find the areas just outside the village centre, particularly those closer to the Gnadenalm, to be an excellent fit. These locations provide easy access to family-friendly activities like the children's ski lifts in winter or the adventure playground and petting zoo in summer. Accommodation here often includes larger apartments or chalets, great for families needing more space and privacy.
