Disappointed...

We were welcomed by a lovely member of the management and able to check in slightly earlier which we appreciated. The place itself has a lovely garden and nice pool but bare in mind the photos do make it look better - at least in our case. We booked the self catering unit which is bit tired looking and has a musty, grandma-ish smell which we couldn’t get rid of despite opening terrace and main doors. I feel like sofas especially need replacing. Bathroom was lovely and we had plenty of fresh towels (some with holes though). The B&B part might be nicer? We were looking forward to using the hot tub but it had a damp, musty smell as well and wasn’t very clean inside. Overall the places was slightly overpriced and wouldn’t book it again. Oh and I found a slug in the kitchen on the day of checking-in lol. Staff was very lovely and welcoming.

Great service in a nice location with easy access to main attractions. Hosts were lovely and the apartment was larger then expected and very comfortable. Looking forward to my return. Great wifi as well.

Super Stay

If you are lucky enough to get a room at Manaar, you are bound to find a perfectly great stay. Hermann will take care of you like you are a long lost family member - I extended my stay twice during my time there, and right until my departure Hemann kept smiling and kept doing absolutely everything to make a long stay into a flawless one. The room was not overly decorated but incredibly neat and safe with lovely features and treasures in the fridge. Breakfast was great and made perfectly to order just about like everything else. If you like being treated like a friend visiting when you are away from home than this is probably the best choice you can make. 11/10 for Manaar.

A comfortable safe place to stay

wonderful stay at the Manaar house. Arriving extremely late we were greeted with smiles and shown to our lovely room. Everyone was very helpful and generous which helped make our stay comfortable from a delicious breakfast to advice on where to head off for a day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return as Umhlanga is breathtaking.

Très agréable Guesthouse où il fait bon venir

Un accueil chaleureux dans ce guesthouse, dans un quartier résidentiel, calme et facile d'accès . Maison très bien entretenue, confortable et spacieuse. Un délicieux petit déjeuner est servi tous les matins devant la piscine et un jardin fleuri....pour commencer idéalement la journée..... Nous y avons séjourné 4 nuits....et nous y reviendrons....

Bekvämt, god frukost och utmärkt service

Rummen är välutrustade och bekväma. Servicen utmärkt, frukosten mycket god. Verandan kring den lilla poolen är vackert dekorerad, liksom vardagsrummet. Enda minustecknet är läget - inte särskilt promenadvänligt pga trafikleder. (Man behöver bil för att kunna röra sig obehindrat.) Trafiken också hörbar från vissa håll - den privata terrassen direkt utanför mitt rumt var alltför bullrig för att man skulle vilja sitta där.

Sehr schönes kleines Guesthouse etwa 20 Minuten außerhalb von Durban. Sichere Gegend. Leider hört man die Autobahn sehr stark. Service ist toll.

Nice room with ocean view

I stayed here for two days at the end of a three week South Africa trip. The room was big and comfortable and there is an outdoor space. You can see the ocean in the distance and the host, Hermann, was great! Very friendly and attentive and always happy to help and answer questions. The guest house is a little distance from the beach and Umhlanga so I recommend you have a car. Shops and beach are only a 5 minute drive away though and Durban airport is super close.

Zwischenübernachtung

Waren nur eine Nacht, dazu oder für die eine oder andere Nacht ideal. Komplett und liebevoll, aber funktionell ausgestattet, auch als Selbstverpfleger, da mit Küche. Gastgeber so wie man sie sich wünscht! Immer für die Gäste da. Zentral in besserer Wohngegend der Region Durban gelegen. Durban schnell erreichbar ( 20-30min.). Restaurants und Einkaufszone in Nähe - Auto o. Taxi nötig ( aber Parkplätze kein Problem). Airport 20min. Frühstück konnten wir nicht nutzen. Würden wir wieder machen.

Pleasant B & B experience

Very pleasant B&B with lots of personal touches, attractive decor and hospitable hosts. Short taxi drive to Umlanga beachfront and Gateway shopping centre. Stay in the self contained accommodation if staying for longer than a night, where there is a lot more bedroom space. Large bathrooms with plenty of space. Great breakfast choices. Taxi to King Shaka airport costs approx $250.

Ideale Unterkunft in der Region Durban!

Das Manaar House war unsere erste Unterkunft in ZA - und eine der Besten! Tina und ihr Mann sind so nett und hilfbereit gewesen. Sie haben uns 1001 Tipp für unsere weitere Reise gegeben - einfach genial! Die gesamte Anlage sind traumhaft angelegt, die Zimmer sind sehr schön. Auch das Frühstück war traumhaft, welches wir direkt am Pool genießen konnten!

Lovely B&B

It was a wonderful place to stay- the room is great with a fantastic mattress, the room is dark at night and the bathroom a delight. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, the garden is very pretty and the food delicious. Will definitely stay there again. Janette

Family and budget friendly weeklong stay

Went down to Durban for a work conference, the wife and kids joined me to enjoy some time at the beach. The self-catering lofted apartment had space enough for all of us and the kids were able to sleep quietly in their own separate room. It is a charming location with a super fast drive to the beach, dining and shopping. The hosts were very friendly and always ready with advice on places to eat or things to do, they even helped us with baby-sitting service one night so mom and dad could get out for a date night. We would go back again.

Schöner Aufenhalt. Gute Lage aber etwas weit von den Strände und direkt an einer sehr frequentierte Schnellstrasse. Ansonsten super Service.
