We had a wonderful reunion event for about 15 people. This large house with many bedrooms and common spaces was perfect! Highly recommend. Wonderful hosts.
The property was gorgeous, and a perfect fit for the 14 of us (plus a couple of dogs)! The bedrooms were perfect, with multiple A/C zones, and the common spaces were awesome. The chef's kitchen was unbelievable!
My extended family of 13 adults and 1 baby really enjoyed our long weekend at the Jewell house. Everything was clean and comfortable. The huge kitchen, dining room and covered porch allowed us all to be together without feeling crowded. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed hiking in the nearby parks.
We loved our stay at Jewel House during the New York Sheep and Wool Festival. The kitchen is well equipped with major appliances (two dishwashers, two cooktops, two refrigerators), a large island for setting out food, and it is easy to gather around the island for snacking. We loved sitting in the gathering room with a fire, chatting and knitting. We also appreciated a dining room table that more than accommodated our group of twelve. At the recommendation of Alexandra, we worked with Chef Lydia Hodges for two wonderful dinners. Our hosts responded promptly to questions. They also provided suggestions for what to do in the area. It is a wonderful property for a large group.
The Jewel House was perfect for 16 friends that know each other for 50 years to celebrate our 60th birthdays! The house was amazing, especially the kitchen! We had a fabulous time hiking in the area and spending time in the cozy living room. We highly recommend the Jewel House!
Large clean house. Great for families. Toys for inside and out. Huge, well stocked kitchen. Very large dining table. Responsive host. Had a great time. Thank you.
My family of 17 stayed at Jewel house for the 2023 edition of our annual family reunion.
Our hosts were very responsive to a couple of small issues we had when we first arrived, and the house was a "perfect fit" for our stay.
I would highly recommend Jewel house for any large groups that are looking for a warm and cozy location for a large group event.
The house was perfect for our large group, with plenty of space and great amenities. The spacious rooms and bathrooms in most bedroom were convenient for a group of 15 adults, and having a well-stocked kitchen made it easy to prepare meals for everyone.
The yard and oversized front porch made the house even more enjoyable, providing the perfect setting for both daytime relaxation and evening gatherings.
This was our second family weekend at Jewel House and it did not disappoint! The big well stocked kitchen makes meal time prep and clean up easy and it has plenty of beds & baths for our group of 17. The front porch is a great place to relax and enjoy time catching up and we especially enjoyed our evening spent around the backyard fire pit. It's private and peaceful, just what we were looking for. The host was quick to respond to text messages when we found a small issue at check in that was quickly resolved. We're looking forward to coming back next year!
We really enjoyed our stay! We had a large group of 24 friends, and the house met all of our needs. It was very clean, had enough bedrooms for everyone, and a large dining table that accommodated everyone for big dinners.
We spent a lot of time throughout the weekend outside playing lawn games and sitting by the fire.
The place was close enough to grab amenities or go to a grocery store, but off the beaten path and quiet.
It was exactly what was listed and made for a where enjoyable time. Would recommend this place for a large gathering!
Very comfortable and clean house that accommodated the 20 of us well. Upstairs rooms all have adjoining bathrooms. However there is no bathroom in the basement or in the bedroom above the game room. Since the closest available bathroom was on the first floor these bedrooms were somewhat inconvenient. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay with lovely outdoor space and comfortable accommodations.
The home is just as described. Kitchen was large, allowing lots of space for multiple people to work at the same time. The dining room provided more than enough space to play games and eat at the tables. The living room is one of the coziest I've encountered at rental house. It has lots of soft seating and a fireplace. We brought some of our own kitchen supplies along(serving spoons) and were glad to have them. The second floor bedrooms all have en suite bathrooms while there is one bathroom on the first floor for the 2 bedrooms there as well as the basement.I would definitely return to this rental in the future.
We were a group of 16, four siblings with our mostly adult kids and a few significant others. We get together every summer for a reunion weekend and were thrilled to find a house big enough to hold all of us. The biggest plus to this house is that almost all bedrooms have a private bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for meals and having two dishwashers and two refrigerators was a great help. We enjoyed spending time on the big front porch and took advantage of the fire pit in the back yard on our last night. My only feedback would be about the twin beds. Everyone who had a queen or king bed had a very comfortable bed but the same could not be said about the twins. They seem to be intended more for small children and our 20 somethings would have preferred mattresses that were a little softer. That being said, everyone loved the house, the secluded location where we had plenty of room to enjoy ourselves and most of all that we were all together under the same roof. We are definitely planning a return trip to the Jewel House!
This was our second year at Jewel House for our annual winter trip. The space is great for playing board games. The kitchen is phenomenal for group cooking.
I stayed here with friends having 20 people, this house was exactly what we needed. It was one of only a few houses that have enough individual beds for 20 people, dining room for 20 people, enough bathrooms, and general house space for 20 people. The house has an old charm and wifi worked wonderfully throughout the whole house, which was a welcome surprise considering the size of the house. Additionally, the house has a great location, there is a lot to do in the area and is only a short drive from the Poughkeepsie train station.
The property offered a great locale for our mini family reunion of ten people, ranging in age from 11 months to 79 years. The kitchen is massive, and very well equipped for a large gathering. But there are enough bedrooms and bathrooms to ensure plenty of privacy when desired.
It’s a peaceful getaway that you deserve over a long weekend with family. This is a huge and well maintained, considering that it was built in 1920s. When we are staying, we also get to know that this was also a speakeasy during the time of probation. Will recommend for sure. Great hosts as well, they took care of all the communication prior, during and after the stay.
We had a family reunion with seventeen adults and two children, and the house worked wonderfully. The place provided the right number of bedrooms and beds. The common spaces provided ample room for visiting, game playing and meals. Also, we had a great final dinner at the large table on the front porch followed by smores at the fire pit.
