What pet-friendly activities should we do in Udaipur?
The best area to stay in Udaipur for pet-friendly activities is around Lake Pichola, particularly in the Old City or the areas immediately surrounding the lake.

The Old City, located on the east bank of Lake Pichola, is the historic heart of Udaipur. Its narrow, winding lanes are filled with traditional havelis (mansions), many of which have been converted into hotels or guesthouses with courtyards that often welcome pets. You'll find many shops selling local crafts and textiles, as well as eateries overlooking the lake. The City Palace complex is a prominent landmark here.

Couples travelling with pets will find the Old City a great base. Many hotels offer pet-friendly rooms and access to garden spaces. You can enjoy strolls along the ghats (steps leading to the water) around Lake Pichola in the early mornings or evenings with your pet. Some boat operators also allow well-behaved pets on private boat rides, offering a unique perspective of the city's palaces from the water.

Alternatively, for those seeking a bit more space and greenery, areas slightly outside the immediate Old City but still close to Lake Pichola, such as the Fateh Sagar Lake area, can be suitable. These neighbourhoods often have hotels with larger grounds or gardens, providing more room for pets to roam.

This will narrow your options to properties that allow pets. Once you find a hotel you're interested in, click on it and review the "Policies" section for specific details about their pet policy. This often includes information about pet types, size restrictions, fees, and whether pets are allowed in all rooms or only certain ones. When selecting your room type, read the room description to check that its pet-friendly, as not all rooms in a pet-friendly hotel may accommodate pets.
