Spot exotic animals of all kinds in re-creations of their natural habitats on a self-drive or guided tour of this wildlife park.

Have a fun day with the family, getting close to creatures from the wild at Tuzoofari Zoo. See big cats, jungle species, reptiles and multicolored tropical birds, among other creatures. Visit a petting farm and watch feeding demonstrations. Tuzoofari Zoo spreads across an area of about 150 acres (60 hectares), with a backdrop of rugged mountain countryside.

Within the park are about 1,000 animals that represent over 200 species. There are cheetahs, lions and tigers in addition to giraffes, water buffalo and zebras. Watch as hippos bathe in a waterhole and as alpacas and llamas roam freely around the grounds. Don’t miss the unusual arctic foxes, servals and sugar gliders, which are nocturnal possums.

Find several varieties of amphibians and reptiles in the herpetarium. Pose for a photo with a snake wrapped around your neck. Parrots, peacocks and toucans provide vivid colors in the aviary. Watch for antelope, camels, kangaroos and primates. Help your children feed cows, goats and pigs in the petting farm.

A dirt track winds around the zoo and brings you within touching distance of its animals. Travel around in your own car or join a guided tour on an open-sided jeep. Look for the designated areas that allow you to feed domesticated animals. Experience a bird’s-eye view of the park on a zip-line course. Children can enjoy guided pony rides.

Located on the outskirts of the town of Epazoyucan, the zoo is 16 miles (26 kilometers) southeast of Pachuca. The quickest way to get here is by taxi or rented car. Epazoyucan is also home to the Temple and Ex-Convent of San Andrés, built by Augustinian monks in the 16th century.

Tuzoofari Zoo is open daily and has an admission fee. Purchase merchandise and souvenirs at the on-site shop. Food for feeding the animals is available at the entrance. Visit the zoo’s official website for more information.
