My husband and I really appreciate our short getaway in the Smokeys. This little cabin was perfect. Beautiful deck overlooking the mountains. Nice, clean hot tub to soak in after a day of hiking. The free coupon for breakfast was greatly appreciated! We loved the restaurant, too!
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Me and my husband want to get away for the weekend and it was so relaxing and peaceful this beautiful cabin. We went to Cades Cove and did some hiking at Abrams Fall it was so beautiful. We saw bears, deers, horses and turkey ☺️
This was an adorable little cabin with plenty of privacy & an easy drive (not too high up). Everything was clean & had extra perks like a bottle of wine & a breakfast voucher at Riverstone (which is a very good restaurant). The hot tub worked well as did the fireplace. We are huge sports fans & there was no actual cable - mainly streaming services. Most people aren’t here to watch TV so it was a minor thing in an otherwise enjoyable stay!!
Excellent stay. The location is perfect if you’re coming for the National Park. This cabin specifically is private and quiet and CALM. Clean and decorated very nice. Loved the touches of fall decor! Townsend truly is the quiet side of the smokies and we had the best stay. Important to note that if you are traveling with a larger vehicle (we have a Chevy Silverado) the parking will be rather tight as well as the roads to the cabin.
Cabin felt out dated and not as clean as other cabins we have stayed in. Nothing to upset me that much. No yard front or back. Was right in mountain.

Disappointed
Property owner was very helpful however, they really need to get a new cleaning service! The cabin was not clean when we arrived. There were cobwebs and dust ,hair all in the bathroom floor and the floor was sticky as well. The fireplace did not work nor did the keyless door lock. The owner was nice and helpful but the quickest we could have gotten the fireplace fixed was Saturday night or Sunday and we were leaving Monday morning so we didn’t see the point plus Sunday was Easter. We were able to get a key from the lock box for the door. The oven was blinking with a code so we never used it . There was very little toilet paper or paper towels on the roll so we had to go to the store and get some. Also only like 3 towels so we had to go to the DG to purchase those as well. We were staying 4 nights and there is no washer and dryer.

Not Fancy. Very Adequate.
The pros...
1. Excellent communication with property manager. Phone calls and texts answered promptly.
2. Well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances. Clean linens.
3. Located an easy drive from Townsend and west gate of National Park. Location was why I chose this cabin.
4. Did not use community pool, but it looked very nice.
The cons...
1. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night to find that housekeeping had not come after the last guests left. Called Nancy. She was apologetic and responsive. Her regular housekeeper had scheduled a sub who never showed. She called me back in minutes and asked us to leave so housekeeper could come. We didn't come back until 10 p.m. House was clean. But it was an unfortunate start.
2. House is clean - but only surface clean. House needs a deep cleaning. Woodwork - like the trim in the bathroom - needs dusting badly. I set something on the arm of the couch and it slipped where the arm meets the back, and I came up with a handful of crumbs and dust.
3. A large piece of wood trim where the kitchen floor meets the living room carpet was missing. I realized this when I stepped on an exposed nail barefoot. (We covered it with a throw rug and asked Nancy to wait until we left to fix it.)
4. Mice. I realize this is a peril of a cabin in the woods... I live in the country, I get it... but I value honest reviews when I book. There were mouse droppings in the silverware drawer when we arrived. So we washed everything before we used it. On our last morning I was woken at 4:30 a.m. by a mouse getting into things in the kitchen. Nancy assured me she would call the exterminator.
We have been staying in rental cabins in this area since 2004, so we've seen a wide variety. This was adequate for our three night stay without the kids, but not among my favorites.

Honey bear cabin
Cabin is very quaint and cozy. A little outdated but clean and fairly well maintained. Road to cabin is narrow and signs showing cabin numbers for directions hard to see at night, especially in rain
Pictures matched up with the actual cabin, so no surprises. Location was peaceful. Enough spacing between cabins ensured privacy. We even saw a mother fox and her cubs. I had one question for the owner whom I texted and received a timely response.
I would recommend this place to family and friends.
The property was amazing! We stayed a couple of days while we got married in Cades Cove (which was very close to!) it is definitely a drive from the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area but Townsend has pretty much anything you need for a quiet stay! We arrived and the Hottub was ready to go and heated. The scenery was beautiful and made you feel secluded even if we had neighbors close by.

Honey Bear Pause was just as quaint and rustic as pictured. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay including the decor with its thoughtful seasonal touches. The hot tub was relaxing, and the rocking chairs on the deck were perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and wine in the evenings.
Since we had a rather extended stay, we made full use of the kitchen which was well stocked with the necessary cookware. Even though we cooked some, we also ate at several local restaurants. I highly recommend the burgers at the Apple Valley Cafe, and the steak and trout at Trailhead. However, our favorite was the breakfast at Riverstone which was thoughtfully provided for us as part of our stay. The sweet cream pancakes were so delicious, we went back for more the following morning! We also purchased ready made sandwiches from the Townsend IGA for our afternoon trip to Cades Cove, a must see destination. On our way back into Townsend, we had to stop for a bear crossing, a mother and her two cubs!
Here are some tips for travelers (which certainly do not take away from our excellent rating of the cabin). Take your own or plan a trip to the IGA for perishables, paper towels, and napkins should you need them. Shampoo was provided, but you'll need to bring your own conditioner should you need it. We had plenty of other basics.
Altogether, we highly recommend the cabin and Townsend, the Peaceful Side of the Smokies!
