TLH Derwent Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

"I am extremely disappointed with my stay and feel that the accommodation provided fell far below the standard that was advertised and paid for. Upon arrival, I was allocated a completely different room from the one I had booked. The room I received was outdated, poorly maintained, excessively hot, and had a strong smell of urine. It was not the room I expected and did not represent the accommodation shown at the time of booking. The property's facilities were also not available as advertised. The steam room and jacuzzi were out of order for the entirety of my stay, yet no prior notification was given before arrival. These facilities were part of the reason I chose this hotel, and their unavailability significantly impacted my experience. Most concerning was the lack of hot water throughout my stay. As a paying guest, I expect basic amenities such as access to hot water for showering. Being unable to take a proper shower is unacceptable and demonstrates a serious failure in the standard of accommodation provided. Whenever issues were raised with reception, the response was dismissive and unhelpful. Staff appeared uninterested in resolving the problems or acknowledging the inconvenience caused. At no point did I feel that my concerns were taken seriously.The combination of being given the wrong room, the poor condition of the accommodation, the unpleasant smell, the lack of hot water, the unavailable spa facilities, and the poor customer service made this one of the worst hotel"

"The room was very spacious and clean. No fridge, fan or usb points. Lovely big balcony. Staff on reception desk were helpful. Drinks at the bar were expensive. Breakfast was ok, but the hot food was burnt and dried out by the time we got down there at 9.15 am, so we went down earlier the following day. A walk down the hill to restaurants, bars and the harbour."

"Really good views and very nice staff. Hotel is slightly outside the centre of Torquay but is walkable in about 20 minutes. The restaurant was unfortunately very poor; our first evening we were unable to have our full meal due to “technical difficulties”. The second evening we waited 30 minutes to order even drinks and then there were multiple errors with the order; they did at least give us a discount. Not really value for money."

"Great welcome - very friendly gentleman at reception allowed us to check in an hour is so early, which was very helpful as we had my elderly mother with us. Very clean rooms, great to have a mini fridge with the heatwave at the time, great shower. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of variety, well cooked food and nice atmosphere. Juice from a machine, but this was ok. Top tips: 1) Be aware the entrance for when you first arrive is not the one opposite the harbour (you can’t use that one until you have checked in and have a key card), The main entrance is at the rear on a small hill and although there are double yellow lines outside it is a quiet street and so, as we did, you could easily drop people and luggage off before going to park. There is a large car park just up the hill (then either a short slope to walk down over the car entrance side or a LOT of steps down from the other side). If not dropped off first, I suggest those with mobility issues avoid the steps side and with a little care for traffic, use the slope entrance side to walk down to the hotel after parking instead (it’s much closer to the hotel entrance from that side than the bottom of the steps). 2) The car parks in Torquay all use the RINGO app (although some take cash too)."
