I have stayed at the resort numerous times and have always enjoyed my stay. Unfortunately this last time was not so good. The evening entertainment in the Derwent is always great but it was closed due to a private function. Giving an alternative in the Carlton which does not have the same ambience therefore not many people attended. This has put me off returning to the resort I’m afraid

Took my grandchildren away for a night and this was the perfect choice. Lots for children to do, great food and friendly staff. I would definitely return.

Didnt really need to leave the hotel grounds. Everything you need! Spa, pool, games room and plenty of bars and restaurants. Humble entertainment in the evenings. Lovely relaxing spa and we had an apartment which had also had a small kitchen if you wanted to cook yourself. Brilliant stay - for a family of 5 ages 39 -8 👍

Good weekend away

Good value for money - had lots to do - near beach and restaurants ( 10 mins walk) staff helpful and friendly- having some work done so had scaffolding in front of our sea view but didn’t spoil our overall experience- would recommend for couples or families

Great place

Great place to stay for a family - the facilities in the apartment and activities in the hotel are great and it’s close to the beach, Marina and Town Centre. It’s also not too far from the rest of the Riviera. We’ve lived at other good places in Torquay in the past, but this was by far the most practical and functional place for us as a family.

The entertainment was ok and kids enjoyed , hotel is dated but clean and it’s refreshing blast for the past , a lot to do , swimming area are big and ok , nice place for family albeit dated. It was fun and in good area overall would recommend .

while it may be an older property, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. The rooms do show their age, but the exceptional staff more than make up for it with their friendliness and attention to detail. The hotel offers a wide range of facilities that are perfect for families, including a massive games room that kept the kids entertained for hours. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are well-maintained and a fantastic place to relax. The evening entertainment was awesome. Additionally, the hotel's location is ideal, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for a family getaway!

The 165 years old Victoria Hotel is so beautiful, so big and still so functional premise that we were really impressed. It is true that need flooring and little room renovation but I can only congratulate with the owner and management how good is maintained. The ladies at the reception are fantastic, so patient and helpful. The swimming pools are fantastic and big sizes, good for long swimming and the other for families with kids with a separate little corner for babies. The jacuzzi is a good size, good bubbles (I like a stronger water jet but was ok). Steaming really good and hot sauna lovely. The breakfast was very good and simple, basic very well cooked fried eggs, beans, plum tomatoes sauce, hash brown potatoes a little dry, scrambled eggs and sausages to improve. But the waiters were offering fresh made poached, boiled or scrambled eggs to be served at your table and fresh croissants too. We loved the other station with a very good yogurt, prunes on syrup, fantastic fresh fruit salad, cerries on syrup, sliced almonds, apple or grapes juices. There are 2 hot drinks machines quite good, but for my italian taste the coffee was a little weak. We found the service around the restaurant breakfast spotless, especially the lovely Ukrainian Pavel (not sure about the spelling) was making every single one so welcome and attentive to anyone needs, also the sweet Sara was very caring. There are so many activities going on especially for senior that really enjoy the hotel a lot.

Having 5 hotels in the same group use the same facilities has its advantages and drawbacks. Cheaper yes busy very ! Swimmers would love the pool and small children can swim in the smaller pools. Always book direct as you get better perks.

Our 3rd visit. Staff very good my only disappointment was I had booked 2 rooms for 2 days. When I booked it was free parking since my booking they charge so £40 extra. Very disappointed

Entertainment advertised was incorrect because it was limited. Dining was great and staff were accommodating. Spa was amazing and staff were informative. Floor boards were creaky. Wooden flooring was loose. On the whole, rooms need updating.

The hotel was clean but very dated. We stayed on the 3rd floor which was very hot. The bed was very uncomfortable, but the room was clean. We stayed for breakfast which was average, but did feel uncomfortable whilst eating our breakfast as the young man (waiter) was stood near our table waiting for us to finish our breakfast so that he could remove our plates as soon as we had eaten. We felt that we were being watched.

Great holiday

Excellent customer service and food in the restaurant. Bedroom was lovely and bright and airy but bed very uncomfortable with springs. Was given a mattress topper after complaining which made a big difference. We've stayed at TLH three times now and love it but hotels need painting and modernising, looking quite dated.

I injured my foot during my stay in a metal bed prong that’s used to clip beds together that was left undone . I immediately informed the receptionist that wasn’t interested at all and gave me a small blue plaster to put over it it took me to complain to managers for anything to be done . It ruined what was meant to he a relaxing trip. I never complain but feel this was totally wrong and human error . The mangers did offer me a free evening meal and breakfast at no cost but since coming home the had to seek medical attention for the injury I sustained and now that I’ve left they don’t seem interested that I’m still suffering with the injury overall really disappointed . The pool facilities of this hotel are nice but the rooms have no air conditioning and can get quite stuffy they do provide a small fan but you won’t get a full night sleep when it’s hot here which is a shame . Absolutely gutted that a nice weekend away turned into a stressful one !

Bad beds

They need to upgrade or get new mattresses. Ther matterss is total springs. very uncomfortable. Every morning woke up stiff and pains.. very disapointed with the beds which is the main thing people book hotels it to get a good stay and sleep. Overal staff were good nite security guy was a very humble lad. On site spa and leisure was good apart from steam room hardly steaming up but yeh all good apart from the beds and sleep
