The place was lovely if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay. The owner was amazing, our favourite person we met in Japan. Truly a kind and welcoming person who was fun to talk to and spend time with. Highly recommend if your on a budget.
Tuk was an amazing host. I left an item there and he offered to ship it to my next hostel for free. He cares about his guests and will even help you with a map of where to go. The hostel beds were comfortable and rooms/ toilets were decently clean. It is also conveniently next to the train station.
Very cool hostel! Has a chic coffee shop and clothing shop downstairs, host was extremely nice and made sure that people were comfortable, right next to Keisei Takasago station for easy commute. I had a great time talking and hanging out with host and fellow hostelmates, will be coming back!
Amazing place, Tak is a very good. Just please be respectful and mindful! The place has really homey feel to which is great and since the lobby is just the living you get to talk with the other guest a lot. If you travel alone this is the spot
Tak is very cool, he will explain a lot of things and share experience with you if he has visited your country!
The beds and toilets are fine for the price. Beds very confortable.
The only thing its not very clean! The toilet and room smells a little bit.
But we had a very good stay.
The hostel is run and maintained by the owner only. The guy is intresting to chat with. He is giving me atypical Japanese charateristics. The cleaness is well maintained, only the facility parts like the staircases are not for everybody, especially eho are with bulky items and have health issues like knee problems because this biilding does noy have lifts.
Place definitely needs some cleaning and organization. The host is kind, however I would like to highlight that I struggled with communication. A small example: while I was organizing some coins on the counter, the host came up and grabbed my money, then attempting to give me other coins in exchange... this was super random and action done without any verbal communication. I had to stop him and reverse the exchange I never asked for.
If you have any issues with hoarding behaviours or a lack of cleanliness, I would skip over this place. Otherwise, decent location, close to a train station and quiet.
A lovely hostel in an old eastern part of Tokyo, where the charm of the old city blends nicely with the hustle and bustle of the modern city just a few stops away. Tak's (owner) place is situated about a 7 minute walk from Keisei Takasago station, which will be your central point to all the other major stations. Once you get to Nippori station, then you're good to go mostly everywhere.
Now the hostel itself is an old style Japanese home that has been turned into one, with nice beds and the usual hostel amenities (i.e. shared washroom, shower, kitchen etc.). Tak's got style, and you see it shine through the place. The man himself is a genuinely fun person, and he'll more than likely show you around the area if he's free, while giving you solid tips. He took my buddy and I, along with 2 others to try out the local izakaya and food shops. If you're looking for a unique sleeping place with a great owner to drop your bags off while you travel around Tokyo, then Yawp is right for you!
P.s. to Tak - once I become a famous author, feel free to sell the signed runners I left if you havent donated them already lol
Very helpful host, comfortable beds and a great atmosphere. I felt safe leaving my stuff behind, but there are lockers as well for small valuables. Well worth it for a solo traveller like me :)
This was the best experience I've ever had . I was nervous about going to Tokyo but Tak made me feel right at home . I enjoyed our conversations, laughs , and good times. The bed was amazingly comfortable that I slept soundly. Thank you Tak for everything. I'm looking forward staying again . 😃
The pictures on the website are completely different from reality. The person at reception is really rude. They won't let you sit in the common area after midnight and have ridiculous rules like you have to lock the door every time you go out. A truly awful experience.
This backpackers has a strong community feeling thanks to Takuro, who knows how to host and connect guests very well. He even cooked dinner for us one night! Although the accommodation is out of the city centre, it is very close to a train station so getting around was still fairly easy. Thanks for the stay Tak :)
