I love this hidden gem, the Yanaka neighborhood is charming and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Tokyo. Very conveniently located to Nippori station for airport transport and quick subway rides to the rest of Tokyo's sights. This neighborhood has some great restaurants and bars as well. The hotel itself is incredibly charming and hip with helpful staff.
A magical place which seems to transport you in anoyejr era. The room is Japanese traditional style with futon. The staff is incredibly kind. Overall an amazing experience. Thank you.
Nice neiborhood in a well preserved japanese área. It is nice to see how regular native people lives. Hanare is very basic, small rooms with tatami. No enough room for the luggage and only 2 hangers in the room and one very narrow Mirror. It would be nice to have at least a shelf and a bigger mirror ( wider). The room had a smelt, the cleaning was no very good. Only one shower for 4 rooms (8 people) so you have to book the day before specially on hot days. They have the no shoes policy at the rooms so the provide you with slippers, but they are not disposable so it is better to use them with socks on.
Breakfast is good, but the service sus quote slow. Once it took us 45 min to get our food. We Saenz only 2 people in the kitchen, perhaps this is the reason. Be patience if you así for coffe, it Can take 10-15 min, they Can only prepare 3-4 cups al once. They do not have barista coffe machines, they prepare it from scrach, from grinding the coffe. It tastes good, but quite slow.
The people at the office were quite nice and they helped in all they could, but they do not have enough knowledge if the turístico side if Tokio, any way they were always eager to help, specially Yuyu from Taiwan, she is great, always with a Smile and help if us.
It was a wonderful cultural experience and an amazing neighborhood to explore! I would love to go back! Delicious breakfast, amazing staff put in a lot of care.
I was a little nervous about what kind of experience I’d have as I drew closer to my stay, but the staff were so helpful and friendly and the guest house was amazing. Thoroughly recommend.
Nippori (and the hotel) are about 20 minutes outside Tokyo in what appears to be a small town. The ride from Narita was a straight shot to Nippori (about an hour) and then a 10 minute walk to the the Hotel. Situated in an area of Tokyo not devestated from the bombings in WW2, Hanare has maintained its character and quality. The building is old school Japan hospitality, lots of exposed wood and tatami mats. The hotel is also modern, with necessary updates taken care of for all fixtures and facilities. Every detail is taken care of at the hotel with a modern Japanese twist. The staff was remarkably friendsly and helpful in a way not seen in the states very often. Akari (one of the hotel employees) went out of her way to prepare a detailed list of tourist "to'do's"...outlining train schedule and activities of the highest quality. She also gave me great evening dinner options and sento options making my evening fun and athentic.
I get to stay at the hotel again in a few days when I return to Tokyo rom the south. I can't wait to stay at Hanare again!
You truly get the full-service experience when you stay at hanare. The staff are knowledgable and friendly and truly make you feel like part of the neighbourhood. Though the price might seem a bit stiff, the experience you get is well worth it. The sento bath is wonderful, the breakfast at hagiso cafe is delicious and your room is one of a kind. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
