St Andrew's Parish church in Aysgarth in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. A medieval church rebuilt in 1536 and again in 1866 at a cost of £3,600. This rebuild was total with the exception of the lower portion of the tower. The church is unusual in having grounds that extend to around 4 acres.
Head of Tom Gill Tom Gill begins as a dry valley on Aysgarth pastures. Considering the usual lack of water, the valley is well defined and was most likely a product of glacial meltwater. Its original course was into Thieves Gill in SE0087 and SE0188.
Spickles Farm Old farmhouse with a modern barn at the lower end of Bishopdale.
Across Bishopdale from Tomgill Bank The view across the dale from Tomgill Bank towards the lower end of Forelands Rigg which separates Bishopdale from Walden. Note that some field boundaries are hedges rather than the usual drystone walling. Harland Hill rises in the background with the bridleway to Carlton visible as it climbs the flank of Thupton Gill.
