"I do not usually write reviews of my stays at hotels but in this case I spent a fair amount of money for the room and property and I expected a better result.
My dates for the hotel 11-15 May, 2026. I stayed in room #115 with my wife. The hotel and room were beautiful, but missing some amenities you would expect in a high end property.
The room had an excellent desk but there was not a chair in the room that fit the desk. There were 2 very large arm chairs in the room that did not fit the desk. The room had a TV with several channels but did not have Netflix or any other streaming apps. Another room amenity missing - sheer curtains. The cost of the room was fair, but for that price I did not expect the hotel to charge an extra fee to utilize the in room safe. Also missing in the room a mini fridge. The high end quality of the property and price point for the guest rooms gives the patron high expectations. The Plaza did not meet those expectations with me."
"This is an excellent place to experience and explore the natural beauty that surrounds you in this part of Ireland. Jenn and her staff are experienced professionals who are also world travelers and who understand the grace notes of hospitality. A beautiful, well tended garden greats you when you park in the spacious driveway, complete with electric car charger. You are greeted by a chocolate lab, an adorable corgi and your host upon your agreed upon arrival time. This first thing that struck me was how absolutely perfectly peaceful everything was. The home is brilliantly designed with guest comfort in mind with fully stocked tea rooms throughout that offer a private space for a relaxing break after a busy day of hiking, jaunting, boating or horseback riding. The Beaufort Pub is an 8 minute walk down the road and offers an excellent pint, great local color and conversation along with spirited dart games. Further up the road is another delightful experience of Irish history at Kate Kearney’s Cottage. Excellent food, great service and a comfortable pub atmosphere greets you at Kate’s. This is an excellent place to stop before or after your exploration of the Gap of Dunloe, The Black Valley and/or the Lakes of Killarney. Hop into a horse driven cart at Kate’s or walk up the road for a day filled with adventure, ending in Killarney National Park with a boat ride through the Lakes to Ross Castle. Talk to Jenn about local activities, she is an expert on this area."
"Clean, well-run hostel. Family room was good, bed comfy, bathroom clean and nice hot shower. The communal spaces were clean and well kept. Convenient if walking the Kerry Way, only 3km off the route and nicely situated between Cahersiveen and Waterville."
