The Royal Lion Hotel

"The hotel had free parking and close to beach . Bar closed at 10.30 so no late drinks . Room was clean, had to ask for clean towels as stayed for 3 days and although room was checked daily only basics done bin emptied cups washed. Would have been nice to have had clean towels daily and shower cleaned. Breakfast was included good choice although fry up not that fresh it felt thou bacon had been kept warm maybe would be better if we had breakfasted earlier. The fresh choices better options as cooked to order . Recommend eggs Benedict was delicious. Plenty of pastries to choose from .They catered for GF very well . Pool a wonderful bonus available to book for private use of 45 minutes had jacuzzi and sauna plus small pool . Towels for pool available from reception remember to ask as they don’t offer. Staff all wonderful same staff doing numerous shifts they work hard made stay very enjoyable will recommend as good place to stay."

"Lovely cottage, kept us cool in the hottest of the weather.Yes the stairs are steep but I soon got the hang of them (68 yrs old)!Communication with Ruth was easy & she answered our questions quickly & thoroughly.Good base for Dorset/East Devon.Easy walk to the beach, about 10mins.It’s on the main road through the village but it was quiet at night.Opposite the bus stop for an easy trip to Lyme Regis.Car parking was daunting at first but soon became simple & no hassle!"

"Apple Tree Cottage is in a little world of it's own and all the better for it:)Parking is easy (street) and whilst the local amenities at first seem simple, you can find what you need......as the Lady in Morgans of Charmouth (amenity store) said, if we don't have it, you don't need it!! Quite right.....Useful car charging points for those electric car users just a 5 minute walk from the cottage and overall, Charmouth is a charming place to stay."
