Delightful pet-friendly oast with enclosed garden on Kent/Sussex border near Rye
Stone Green Oast is a beautiful square kiln oast converted to very comfortable holiday accommodation. This is an "upside-down" house: steps lead up to the main entrance upstairs where there is an airy open-plan sitting and dining room and a separate well-equipped kitchen. An open spiral staircase leads downstairs to the bathroom and bedrooms (1 double and one twin). The master bedroom has french doors which lead up a short flight of steps to the pretty enclosed garden. Outside there is good quality garden furniture, a barbeque and secure storage for bikes. 2 adult bikes are available for use by guests. The garden is fully enclosed and we can accommodate up to two quiet, well-behaved dogs. The property is situated on the Saxon Shore Way, in a quiet hamlet, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 3/4 mile from the nearest public house. The Royal Military Canal is close by. The nearest shop is 2 miles away in Appledore and the Cinque Port market town of Tenterden is 7 miles. The ancient town of Rye, with its wide range of restaurants, pubs and live music, is 5 miles away. The property is ideally situated to explore the wide variety of activities that Kent and Sussex coast offer: the beautiful beaches at Camber and Rye Harbour are great for children and for walking the dogs. Canterbury, with its mediaeval cathedral and excellent shopping, is only an hour away by car. Hastings, with its old town and ancient fishing museum is about 45 minutes by car. The oast is well placed for visiting local gardens such as Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Bodiam Castle, Leeds Castle as well as English vineyards: Chapeldown, Gusbourne and Hush Heath. Ashford Designer Shopping Outlet is 30 minutes by car. The high speed train from nearby Ashford International takes you to London in only 35 minutes. We are next door if you need any extra assistance during your stay.

Beautiful property with Amanda thinking of everything you could need
The welcome gifts were a really nice touch and I loved the French doors out into the garden from the bedroom
Would definitely stay again
A brief visit. Very pleasant property, well furnished and fully equipped.
A shorter than expected stay, but good communication with the owner ensured we were all fully informed. The Oast is very well furnished with careful thought clearly given to design and creating a homely atmosphere. The location is well placed for access to Rye and various gardens, eg Great Dixter and Sissinghurst as well as Dungerness and further East along the coast.
The property was clean, fresh and modern. Our lovely hosts left us some homemade loaves and basic groceries. They also lent us bikes and familiarized us with the local area. We had a great visit.
I would highly recommend a stay in this converted Oast. My partner, our dogs and I had a lovely time. Such a nice part of Kent, we didn't want to leave! Amanda's thoughtful touches made it even more special- we had homemade bread, red currant jelly and a cake for my partners birthday along with butter and milk. The oast was clean and tidy and there were some pretty walks around the area.
I wanted a quiet holiday with some good dog walks and some interesting places to visit. The Oast house was so very clean and tidy it had everything you needed and some special touches. Welcome goodies and even a supply of dog stuff (leads, towels etc) a mature enclosed garden and a well stocked kitchen. The instructions were simple and comprehensive, we had a lovely time
This is our second stay at Stone Green Oast, and it was just as nice this time as it was six years ago. The oast itself is a neat building, very comfortable inside, with everything one could want. Immaculately kept, everything works, beautiful view of the gardens, pleasant outside seating. Amanda and Andrew are perfect hosts, making us feel very welcome, and were always available in case of need. We hope to be able to return again soon.
I stayed at Amanda and Andrew’s gorgeous Oast House with my husband and dog and only wish we could have stayed longer. They have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable and welcome. Lots of detail and a lovely welcome gift. Ideal for travelling with our dog with a fully enclosed, secluded garden, bowls, spare leads and throws for the sofa. The oast is absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed. The surrounding area was perfect for dog walks and Rye and Tenderten were great places to visit. Hope to be back at some point
We have just spent a great few days here. Despite the rubbish weather, we still had a great time and definitely plan to come back. The Oast was wonderful. Lots of thoughtful additional touches that made being away from home easy. The beds were comfortable, the bath was lovely and the garden is beautiful (our dogs loved exploring it and doing laps around the bush!)
The area is great too with some great dog friendly pubs with amazing food.
Thank you for a wonderful trip. We are so glad we stumbled across your beautiful Oast house.
We hat a wonderful time in the oust. The house was immaculately clean. On our arrival we were welcomed by homemade bread and cake - yummy. The house has a nice garden with a terrace to sit on and two loungers - unfortunately not enough sun to really use it. The contact to our host Amanda was nice, we felt very welcomed.
This converted Oast House is absolutely perfect! It has been beautifully converted, is very tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, and has absolutely everything you need for a holiday cottage. As others have said, it is the best, most comfortable place I have stayed in, it really is wonderful. A great deal of care and thought appears to have been put into making this just a lovely place to stay and with the fenced garden, very dog friendly as well. The surrounding countryside is lovely, and interesting places to visit nearby. We definitely want to visit again, and would thoroughly recommend.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay in this lovely old Oast house, with our dog Lottie ! The accomdation was immaculate throughout, cleverly designed and converted and extremely well equipped. On arrival there was a welcoming array of home made cake, jam and bread alongside fresh milk, butter and locally made drinks in the fridge. The good sized garden was beautiful and safely enclosed for our dog. There were plenty of walks on the doorstep , and we found nearby Rye Harbour nature reserve a lovely place for a great day out for all of us. Amanda and Andrew were great hosts who were there for advice and made us feel very welcome.
We had a lovely stay at the oast. The property was very clean with everything needed for a few days stay. The location is great for Camber, Rye and we did some nice walks. Unfortunately we encountered the water being cut off due to a burst water main but that was out of their control. We both slipped on the spiral staircase despite their being strips to prevent this on the bottom steps so beware of this when going down the stairs. Otherwise if was a nice break.
We had the most wonderful time in this cozy little oast. It‘s clean, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We were welcomed by incredibly friendly and helpful hosts and lovely goodies in the kitchen. Amanda and Andrew will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and provide whatever is necessary for that. We had a little problem with the heating for a day, but were supplied with electrical radiators to tie us over until the next day Amanda could get hold of an engineer, who over the phone talked her through all necessary steps while she personally repaired the heating system. Successfully! And afterwards we even received a little basket with more goodies for the inconvenience, which was absolutely not necessary but very much appreciated. Amazing hosts!
The area is beautiful and our dog loved the footpaths over the fields and through the vineyard as much as we did. The peace and quiet in that little village was heavenly!
The Ferry Inn down the road or Black Lion Pub in Appledore have yummy food, Miss Mollet‘s tea room in Appledore is a must and the small store in Appledore is sufficient unless you are planning to purchase larger supplies - there‘s supermarkets in Tenterden, which is definitely worth a visit. And don’t miss out on Rye. A lovely beach is close in Camber Sands.
Long story short - you will love it here!! We sure did. Thank you so much!
Stone Green Oast is at the top of our list of properties we have stayed at in England. Lovely setting, and Amanda has gone out of her way to make it homey and welcoming. Easy day trips to Canterbury, Rye and the many famous National Trust properties in the area.
Our stay at the Oast House was perfect. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped, the garden is beautiful and Amanda was friendly and welcoming. Would love to stay again.
Beautiful oast house, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Made to feel very welcome with some essential items left for us by the owners (milk, bread, butter etc).
I would highly recommend staying here
Delightful property with literally everything you could wish for provided. Well situated for gardens such as Great Dixter and Sissinghurst. Rye and Tenterden worth a visit. Great Sunday lunch at The Ferry Inn.
This was the best and most well equipped holiday rental we have experienced! The property itself was charming with a lovely garden in a nice village with many interesting places to visit nearby.
The owner provided a very generous welcome pack including home baked bread and cake, and was more than helpful with suggestions of places to eat/visit etc.
Wonderful to find such a nice holiday home that was pet friendly too….we will return!
An excellent stay in very comfortable oast house which was very well prepared. There was an abundance of extras from home made bread to little bathroom treats. Dogs made very welcome and there is a large completely private dog proof garden. Looking forward to visiting again.

Fantastic House
Fantastically equipped, sweet and quirky house. Very friendly and helpful owners. Kids and dog had a ball. Would highly recommend.
We wanted to take our grandson on an Easter break, and the Oast was our perfect base.
It was warm, welcoming and very clean. Everything was provided making our stay trouble free. We would not hesitate to book the Oast again. Amanda and Andrew were the perfect hosts.
A lovely cottage cleverly converted from an oast house and very tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed inside and outside. We enjoyed walking and cycling directly from the house and a short drive to visit several National Trust houses, gardens and castles .
