Appreciate stunning views of the Taipei cityscape from the tall Elephant Mountain and other vantage points across this undulating terrain.

Xinyi is a busy and exciting district filled with futuristic skyscrapers and modern shopping malls. In addition to the many trade buildings and office blocks, the district also retains its traditional identity through its market and temples. Hike along the Nangang District Hiking Trail to reach the summit of Elephant Mountain. Identify your favourite attractions from this spectacular vista of Xinyi.

Stay at the peak for the romantic sunset and watch the bright lights of the district’s towers. Rising tallest is the gorgeous Taipei 101 skyscraper, which mixes traditional and modern architectural elements. Dine in style at one of the restaurants offering unobstructed views of the city. Browse the array of upscale brands and boutiques in the Taipei 101 Mall, which is spread across several tiers of the tower.

For a more bohemian and artistic shopping experience, visit the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. The warehouses of this former tobacco factory contain all types of art exhibits, history displays and cafés. Understand the traditions of Taipei at the Sung Shan Tsu Huei Temple. Its interior is covered in gold-leaf décor and a statue devoted to the Yaochi Jinmu deity.

Enter the Discovery Centre of Taipei in Taipei City Hall to find out about the development of the municipality. The district also cements its place as one of the business hubs of Taiwan. Check out the glassy exterior of the Taipei World Trade Centre, which has an exhibition hall and hotel in addition to its Taipei International Conference Centre.

Xinyi is a little southeast of the centre of Taipei, in northern Taiwan. Ride the Bannan Line or the Tamsui-Xinyi Line to one of the metro stations dotted around the area. While in this region, make sure to visit surrounding zones such as the Wenshan District, the Nangang District and the Yonghe District.
