"The deluxe room was very clean and had 2 small balconies and a very comfortable bed. The view across the lake was fabulous. Air conditioning was a must as every day was the mid to upper 30’sC. The breakfast buffet was okay…fruit, yogurt etc good but I would avoid the scrambled eggs.. they seemed to be reconstituted…and, as near always in Europe, the bacon was only partially cooked. I would not recommend dinner. The pool area was very good albeit there is the usual scramble for places and music more suited to a disco rather than having a relaxing chill by the pool! Perhaps it’s my age! The staff were very friendly and helpful."

Grand Hotel Bristol

"The Grand Bristol hotel is by far the very best of all the places we have stayed so far, in Italy. The rooms were extremely comfortable. The bathrooms with their beautiful modern design were an unexpected surprise! The beautiful gardens & pool, the luxurious rooms, the wonderful views, the warm and friendly staff made this an extra special place to stay with our family. So welcoming and hospitable for those traveling with babies too. We loved the fact that most of our excursions were walking distance, including the launch point to the boat ride to the Borromean islands. The Palace & garden tour is a must see. It was beauty beyond words!"

Hotel Lido La Perla Nera

"Nice clean and quiet hotel. Located very close to the lakes edge. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good in the morning with plenty of choice. There is also an indoor pool. The absolute godsend in the hot/sticky weather was the use of the outdoor pool at the sister hotel. The hotel is about a 15/20 minute walk into the centre of Stresa. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s a lovely walk along the lakes edge into Stresa."

Hotel La Palma

10/10 Excellent

"The location was perfect. Right on the lake and close to shops and restaurants as well as access to the boats for visit to the Borromean islands. The pool was right on the lake. I didn’t see any other hotel that had that nice feature. There is also an adult only rooftop pool that is warm.Breakfast was delicious. However, the beds and pillows were quite hard."

At Ornavasso Caves, take some time to really appreciate nature. Iles des Borromees Golf Club, Golf Club Alpino di Stresa, and Belgirate Ferry Terminal are other spots for some local fun.

Some of the most popular attractions in the area include Sacred Mountain of the Rosary, Isola Bella Botanical Garden, and Villa Taranto Botanical Garden. Stresa Ferry Terminal, Funivia Stresa-Alpino-Mottarone, and Carciano Ferry Terminal will also leave an impression.

Getting around Stresa

If you want to venture out of town, Belgirate Station is the closest train station. You can also catch a ride at Stresa Station. You can inquire about options for water travel at the marina.
