Canalside cottage situated on edge of Wilmcote village
Wharf Stables sits in the grounds of the private residence known as 'The Wharf' alongside Stratford-on-Avon Navigation Canal in the village of Wilmcote. Mary Arden's House, where Shakespeare's mother lived, is one of the major attractions in the area and is situated some 400 metres from the holiday let. The village is also conveniently situated for those wishing to explore the Cotswolds, Warwick, Kenilworth and surrounding areas, in addition to enjoying the Shakespearian experience in Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwick Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Britain.. The holiday let is a conversion of an old stone stable block. It was originally used in early 19th century for keeping the ponies used for pulling the carts from the Wilmcote quarry to the quay. The accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms, one king size bed, and a super king with an option to split to 2 singles. Both bedrooms have en-suites (one with a bath). The holiday let comes complete with necessary fixtures to make your stay enjoyable. Including wifi, dishwasher, 42 inch TV with freeview, radio with USB and bluetooth, freezer and washer/dryer. It is fully centrally heated with heated towel rails and gas effect stove. Wilmcote has good access to Stratford and, if you wish, the train is 5 minutes walk away. Walk down the towpath or jump on the sightseeing bus that runs regularly between the Shakespearean tourist attractions. There is a general store in the village, a public house and St. Andrews Church.

Wharf Stables is a delightful little cottage by the canal. We were greeted with a lovely welcome basket of goodies and it had plenty of supplies of toiletries. Spotlessly clean and warm with lovely comfy beds. We met Liz several times who was very friendly and helpful. The swans, rabbits and squirrels were fun to watch. Lots of places to visit and walk close by made it the perfect location to stay.
Another wonderful stay in this property - peaceful and with everything we needed. So many places to visit in the area and easily accessible. The hosts are friendly and helpful - cannot fault anything!
This is our 4th time at the Wharf it’s such an amazing place to stay, you have a lovely welcome basket on arrival, wildlife amazing
Alan & Liz are amazing hosts
Our two week stay couldn’t have been better….our cottage was modern with all the facilities you would expect from the five star accommodation. We hope to return. Thank you Alan and liz
Warm and inviting, the cottage is perfect. Gorgeous setting, quiet and peaceful but easily accessible to Stratford. Alan and Liz are wonderful hosts, giving me a warm welcome and making my stay a pleasure.
Our Canadian family stayed over Christmas in this beautiful property. It was amazing, lovely location, well equipped, perfect for our family get together.Alan and Liz made us very welcome and communicated well throughout.
Peaceful location. Helpful owners. 'Bertie' the owners dog is nice and friendly. Welcome food basket and milk, a nice touch. The whole cottage well furnished. You can get to Stratford by the canal towpath or the local train service. The Stratford sites tour bus stops in the village on its circular route.
The cottage is one of the nicest we have stayed in. It is well looked after and we cannot recommend it enough. The location is perfect with abundant wild life in the garden and swans on the canal.
Picturesque location right on the canal. Peaceful and quiet. Lots of wildlife. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Wonderful walks along the canal. Handy train 5 mins walk away. Husband enjoyed the fishing. Wish we’d booked another week.
Beautiful canal side location with a lovely tow path walk to Stratford. Blissfully private and quiet. Superbly presented property and terrific value for money.
Very relaxing stay, very comfortable and clean, Liz and Allan where very friendly and told us about local places to eat etc.
We came for the game fair and we will return.
Despite some dodgy weather, we had another good stay thanks to Alan, Liz and Bertie.
Will always look to come back to the canal side cottage when we visit the area.
Good to see Alan on the mend.

Very handy for the train and the canal side walks, Great base for visiting the Birmingham NEC shows also. Layout perfect with super king on suite bedroom at one end and a King on suite bedroom at the other end with the lounge / diner / kitchen in the centre so ideal for 2 couples with a separation zone.
We absolutely loved this property. The location was perfect for us, safe, secure, secluded. Alan and his wife were welcoming and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. It is perfectly located for Stratford upon Avon, yet appears to be miles away. We had a visit every day from Bertie the dog, who made the week even more special. Many thanks.
Great place to stay, clean and bright. Super comfortable, modern with a cottage feel. Fantastic views, highly recommend. Hosts went out of their way to welcome me and make my stay enjoyable. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at canal side cottage the hosts Liz, Alan and the adorable Bertie who always welcomed you at the gate having returned from a day out.
The cottage had everything that you required for a weeks stay including enough facilities to cook a roast dinner.
Beds super comfortable and the check in and check out times are generous 3pm and 11am. The hosts are onsite which is always nice. I’m sure we will return in the near future.
My 2 daughters and I had such a special holiday staying in The Stables, it was everything I had hoped for and more. Liz & Alan made us feel so welcome, they are such lovely people. The cottage was bright, warm, comfortable and had everything we needed and the welcome basket and milk were very much appreciated. The Wharf is such a beautiful base for a peaceful stay with lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Thank you x
