Beautiful deep sandstone canyon just half an hour from the college town of Carbondale (Southern Illinois University). Offers great hiking, interesting geology, and diverse biology. Be cautious where you step, three venomous snakes are native to southern Illinois and this area in particular, including water moccasin, copperheads, and eastern timber rattlesnake. However, encounters are infrequent. "Conveniently located and shops nearby. Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The pet room smelled like the previous pet used it as bathroom. Should really consider removing rugs. The staff kindly went thru all the pet rooms until we found one that was not as bad. Beds were not so comfortable, but clean"
