Hotel Birger Jarl

Hotel Birger Jarl

10/10 Excellent
"The property is centrally located with restaurants, pharmacies, shops & attractions within walking distance. But the area is still quiet early mornings & at night. The room is a good size, the bed was comfy and I loved having a fridge. The meal I ordered in the restaurant was pretty good and convenient after a long & exhausting day sight seeing."

Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm

Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm

8/10 Good
"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The breakfast was wonderful-full of choices. The room was clean throughout the stay. The only concern we had was we reserved a Premium room with a king sized bed. When we arrived we were given a queen sized bed, which was not an option for a Premium room, and were not told that is what we were being given. We paid more for our room although we were not given what we reserved. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk, she said we weren't guaranteed a king bed, even though that was what we paid for."

Hotel C Stockholm

Hotel C Stockholm

10/10 Excellent
"This is one fine hotel situated next to the Arlanda Express station. I stayed on 5th floor and the room overlooks a quiet courtyard. Bathroom was clean but small. There is a tub but no curtain or door makes for a wet and messy bathroom after shower. Room has a console table that functions as a desk. The lobby is large and has many chairs, tables, pool table and other games. The free breakfast exceeds my expectations. Price is not cheap but is very good value. Next time I go to Stockholm again I will stay here."

What is a historic hotel like in Stockholm?
A historic hotel gives guests a chance to stay in a building recognised with an official historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world have had many former lives and uses, such as castles, palaces, grand homes or even old police stations, pubs, lodges or skyscrapers — any building that's been identified as being of special interest. These types of hotels in Stockholm typically preserve authentic elements like traditional architecture and period features in guestrooms or communal spaces.

These are quite similar. The term "historic hotel" is more common in the U.S., whereas "heritage hotel" is common in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to focus on the architecture and building. Mainly heritage hotels draw meaning from the cultural value that the place has and how it influenced the community.
Do historic hotels in Stockholm have modern facilities?
Yes, efforts are made to preserve the historic aspects and traditions, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features. Booking a historic hotel in Stockholm doesn't mean you're choosing a place that's uncomfortable for guests or simply rundown.
