About this property
Appalachian Lookout RRG | Hot Tub | Wifi
Summary: Come experience the tranquility of Red River Gorge. Relax to peaceful sounds of gentle streams, morning birds, and the rustle of wind through the trees as you soak in the surroundings of Appalachian Lookout. This cabin has been curated to balance the refined with the rustic and is enhanced by artwork showcasing the flora, fauna, and history of this unique region. You’ll feel worlds away, but the cabin is close to all the area has to offer. Only 10 minutes from Slade!
The Space: Whether you enjoy outdoor adventures like climbing and hiking or are just in need of a peaceful place to unwind, Appalachian Lookout is your perfect home base amidst nature’s splendor. Located within the Cabins of Birch Hollow development, this newly renovated cabin offers serenity and privacy but sacrifices nothing of convenience. Restaurants, gas stations, a coffee shop, an art gallery, and a spa are all within about a fifteen minute drive.
Every detail of this space has been carefully considered to provide you an aesthetic which is luxurious while also reminiscent of the simplicity of life here in Appalachia. We hope that you will love the blend of modern comfort and rustic yet elegant charm!
Start your day enjoying the specialty soaps in the shower. Then brew a cup of coffee from the Keurig (K-cups provided), and take in the peacefulness of the porch overlooking the woods below or the coziness of the couches with the glow from the fireplace and the warmth of one of several blankets in the living room.
Meals are an event, not just a necessity! The kitchen is stocked with everything you should need to prepare a wonderful meal: pots and pans (including cast iron skillets), crock pot, toaster, blender, mixer, a variety of utensils, and glassware for every choice of drink. If you’re craving a steak or some salmon, then the gas grill on the porch is just what you’re looking for. Once you have whatever it is you’re going to eat, set a nice spot either at the table in the kitchen or at the table on the porch. In either case, use the decanter to pour a fine bottle of wine! If you’re not in the mood to make something involved, then several restaurants are a short drive away.
At the end of the day, stream a movie on the smart TV, cozy up in the chairs on the porch, stay warm and roast some marshmallows at the firepit, or soak away your troubles in the hot tub. Then turn in for a comfortable night’s sleep on one of the two queen beds with their luxury bedding, and enjoy the day again tomorrow!
Whatever brings you to the Gorge, we hope that here at Appalachian Lookout you find a little bit of peace, a lot of nature, and a reason to come back again!

This property by far was the cleanest property I’ve ever been in. The little touches like coffee and snacks were wonderful. I will definitely rent this place again.

I had to put excellent on this review but due to weather we didn't get to even stay 24 hours . The cabin is beautiful ( so inviting ) the decor is history loved it . So many amenities . Beautiful inside and out . Just make sure to check the weather before you go as we lost out on $ due to the road conditions ( weather) this cabin is on top of a mountain that is still being developed so we had to leave early through no fault of rental company just ice and snow. I don't think insurance would have covered this ( which we had ) . We do plan on going back in the summer .
The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, it was well kept. The porch was so relaxing to spend time on. The area itself has a lot to offer any outdoor enthusiasts. We will be back!
The cabin was beautiful inside and out! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook with. The coffee, tea, and snacks was such a nice touch. The cabin was secluded with no neighbors right on top or next to you. We were truly surrounded by woods. The cabin really felt like home and we didn’t want to leave! Thank you for a great stay, we will be back!
We had a wonderful girls trip. The cabin was so cute and cozy and made us feel right at home. The hot tub was clean and easy to use. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could need. Our only suggestion would be to have WiFi password posted somewhere as we had a hard time getting the internet to work to look up WiFi password from the website once we arrived.
Cabin was very clean, very comfortable, had everything we needed. Enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Our sons enjoyed a few of the extra snacks provided considering they did the rugged run. I’d advise people getting there before dark. We couldn’t see name of cabin bc we came in from opposite side. But everything was lovely. Comfy beds and high quality sheets, comforters and towels. Couch comfy too! We will be back. Thank you.
Very nice. High quality everything. Very clean. Good water pressure. Very quiet. Very comfortable beds. Halfway between Stanton and Slade. One caveat- The last 100 ft or so of gravel road is quite steep. Not badly rutted, but my Malibu would probably have scraped. Daughter’s Kia Soul had plenty of clearance, though. 4wd or experience with steep gravel hills strongly recommended.
