For those drawn to coastal village life in Cornwall, Lelant is the perfect pick; and with easy access to coast path walks, wide sandy beaches, and the buzz of nearby St Ives, this cottage makes a delightful base for beach holidays.
On the ground floor, an entrance hall leads into the light-filled kitchen and dining area, where guests can cook and eat together while enjoying views out to the garden. On warm days, the French doors can be opened to connect the kitchen with outside, where mature plants, a pond and an upper terrace, create a lovely spot for unwinding in the sunshine.
With two separate ground floor living rooms there's space to either relax together or spend time apart. Enjoy a movie or conversation round the log burner or indulge in some quiet time curled up with a book on the Chesterfield sofa. Upstairs, two attractive bedrooms offer accommodation for four guests, with a family bathroom featuring both bath and separate shower also found on this floor. A fabulous shower room is on the ground floor, adding to the space on offer.
Lelant is a traditional village with a small but popular selection of places to eat. Birdie's Bistro, The Badger Inn (which sits directly opposite the cottage) and Old Forge Restaurant are all a couple of minutes' drive from the property and worth booking in advance as they can be difficult to get into during busier times of the year. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy a scenic, if not challenging, 18 holes at the duchy's oldest golf course, West Cornwall Golf Club, and Lelant train station which is nearby, offers easy access to St Ives and Carbis Bay. For dog owners, Porthkidney Sands is less than a kilometre away, where dogs are allowed all year round, while Hayle Estuary lies right on its doorstep. Slightly further afield, Gwithian Beach is fabulous for family days out as well as for surfing, as are the stunning beaches of Mexico Towans and Upton Towans.
