ROYAL PINES HOTEL YONEZAWA

ROYAL PINES HOTEL YONEZAWA

8/10 Good
"Very good hotel in this city. Only few items to be desired; 1. Water supply and foucet were very old and temperature adjustment must be done by manually adjusting the opening of hot and cold water. 2. It is a bit far from the station. 1200 yen by taxi. BUt there are many restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Other than these non-issues, the hotel is well maintained, clean and staff were very friendly and polite."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Shimo-Yachi?
The best time to go to Shimo-Yachi is from late December to early March for winter sports, or late April to early November for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the Yamagata Prefecture.

For those keen on winter activities, the period from late December through to early March offers reliable snowfall, making it ideal for skiing and snowboarding. The ski resorts in the Zao Onsen area, just a short drive from Shimo-Yachi, are particularly popular during this time, offering a range of slopes for all abilities and the famous "snow monsters" (Juhyo) to see. This is superb for travellers who enjoy active holidays and don't mind colder temperatures.

If hiking, sightseeing, and enjoying the natural landscape are more your style, then late April to early November is fantastic. During these months, the weather is milder and the scenery comes alive with lush greenery or autumnal colours. You can explore the many trails around the Yamadera temple complex or visit the Ginzan Onsen for a picturesque traditional experience without the snow.
